Yesterday, I was reading all the different answers and alot of them really resonated with me. I could see and feel the truth and depth in them.
Today, I read them again, and many seem kinda flat and lifeless. Why does the magic come and go like that?
How can I learn to hold that mindset of seeing the truth all the time? Is that even possible? (I'm referring to intuitive truth and spiritual insight.)

I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the type of which we are conscious in ourselves. An individual who should survive his physical death is also beyond my comprehension, nor do I wish it otherwise; such notions are for the fears or absurd egoism of feeble souls.

This is a survey for people who think religion is illogical and don't believe that anything exists in any form except for matter and energy (except for vacuums), also known as atheists. It's not for Buddhists however.

3: Do you believe it's always a bad thing to lie? If not, in what instances do you believe it is good?

Again this is only a survey for atheists. Also if you are not an atheist please don't vote on the answers, as I want to see which answers most atheists approve of.

't Hooft got a Nobel prise for his contribution to Quantum Mechanics. His theory is being hotly debated by Mathematicians and Physics departments world wide as it seems to prove that free will does not exist, that everything that is done and that we do, was determined at the time of the Big Bang.

Some Mathematicians feel we need to redefine what Free Will means.

Could this be a case of Science being used to prove some of the tenants contained within religious beliefs?

Twice this week at R&S I've read that Jesus told His disciples to avoid the Gentiles. Is that what you actually believe?

One person cited Matthew 15:24-26, but deliberately left off the rest of the verses. It doesn't get much more dishonest than that. Verses 27-28 complete the story.

Matthew 10:5-6 was cited, but without understanding. First to the Jew, then to the Gentile is a theme that runs throughout Matthew. Matthew 28 conatins "The Great Commission."

Verses will be posed as additional material.

Certain professions should be held to a higher standard? For example Christians (or other religious folks) would expect to be able to trust their preacher/priest more than the average person on the street. Most trust a doctor more than a midwife for medical treatment. So why should we overlook their profession and only look at their actions when their profession is one that commands a certain amount of respect (at least in the field of their expertise)?

So I am evangelical currently. I might move to the Cathlolic Church.

One thing I noticed is that with any exchange between Evalgelicals and Catholics the Evangelicals come off looking like idiots.

They say things (I did it myself) they have been thought but never researched. So its something like, you pray to mary, you believe in works, your not saved, you have idols etc etc.

All of this is not thought by the Catholic Church, when you read something like catholic.com it shows this to be fact.

So any exchange bettween these two groups has the Loving Catholic explaining their position from a point of knowledge o the bible and church history.

Then you have the evangelical quoting the bible (out of context) and fighting about things they think the catholic believes but indeed doesnt. And of course taking all their reference from their Pastors yet deriding the catholic from listening to their pastor/priest.

I hear this argument a lot of y answers, but I don't think women are blamed for sin coming into existence, because if you read Genesis, Adam was right there with her and didn't say a word. He could have said, "Hey eve, let's not eat that" What he did was worse. He let what he wanted to come to pass happen and hoped that he could lay the blame on Eve for orchestrating it. He didn't lead, he didn't speak up, and he sure as heck ate the apple too. He probably would have done it by himself eventually. Her sin was pride (wanting to be greater and wiser than God), his was cowardice and inaction. God blamed them both.
What do you think?

- why would a god want some of his creations living in ignorance of his existence.
- 'good' morals exist without the bible.
there is no kick back from being an atheist, other than embracing the truth.
- given the choice no sane person would want this life to be the end of ones existance, themselves or their loved ones.

you dont even need science to rationalise the non-existence of god.

why do people put up questions like "how does it make you feel when people tell you you're going to hell?" do muslims and atheists and people who don't believe in God expect us to feel sorry for you? it's the truth. "if you do not believe in God and have now asked Him to be your personal savior, you will go to hell" you guys just can't accept that. theres nothing wrong with speaking the truth. you're just too hard headed to admit it....wow, that felt good to finally speak what was on my heart : )

So if the bible was put together 400 years after christ died before that people must have used something else, not a book, but something else for guidance.

My guess is that it was the oral or written teachings of the early followers of Jesus. Some of their writings on the faith still exist today.

The bible was put together by early christians over a period of time. Forget the argument of weather they were early catholics or not, just put that aside.

So for 1200 years we have the bible that was put together by early christians. It is used in the Catholic Church (there were no other historical branches of christs followers.)

Now Martin Luther (who didnt want to leave the church just change a few corruptions that had creeped in (like in acts etc)

Martin Luther changes whats in the bible, he takes multiple chapters out of the OT and books out of the NT. A Man does that 1200 yr after the bible was made. So how can the bible be the word of God if only Catholics have it.

I read, as usual atheists stating as a fact there is no God, without citing their sources, as usual:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlFvqigcXCeN90X8tRGT3PXd7BR.?qid=20070802055225AAlS2Wg

You said it, so it must be true!

I'll try and help you not to embarrass yourselves further:

Hint: Your doubt isn't evidence, so saying, "Well what's your evidence?" doesn't cut it. If you want that questions answered spend your points, use a search engine or click the link below, but stop the question-dodging / arguing.

Once again, what is your evidence? Are you going to rehash the evidenceless theories of evolution and the big bang which no one has an excuse for doing? There is much evidence against those theories:

Let me guess, if you see "answersingenesis" mentioned at all it must mean nothing I say is true... cuz, you said so. Great science!

Once again (for the a.d.d. stricken): STATE YOUR EVIDENCE NOT "ASK YOUR QUESTIONS.
