In Matthew 12 Jesus makes this statement:
31And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.
Since Jesus and the Holy Spirit are both sort of the same thing, (ie. both parts of the trinity), why would it be forgivable to blaspheme against Jesus but not forgivable to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit?
In fact, even if they weren't the same thing, why would this be the case? Is there something special about the Holy Spirit that we don't know about?
