I love going to Montserrat at Lake Dallas. It is a Jesuit Retreat House and is amazing. It is a silent retreat where one spends the time listening and praying silently to God. It is in silence that the still small voice of God can be heard. At least that is my feeling. What is yours?

For my whole childhood I was Christian THen for putting my brother's gang away. I thought of God as good buth then I got sent to a youth intervention camp to keep me from testifying against the gang in court. where I was left chained outside! I felt betrayed by God and my family and have spent twenty-four years as a fugetive from my own relatives.

A going question lately is why does bad happen if God is real and all powerful.

God never did promise that there would not be troubles, infact he said troubles would come, he said storms would come.
God never did promise that there would be no war infact he
warned us that wars was coming.

What God does promise to those that believe on Him are many things one of which He promises to be the comfort in the storms.

Why is it so many ask why do bad things happen when God clearly never promised they wouldnt. He even told us they would.

OK, lets be honest, the christian bible is somewhat sketchy about dinosaurs and to be frank, evolution is not a theory, it's a fact. God never said anything about the Tyrannosaurus going on the Ark two by two and still seems pretty quiet about the subject. He's also glossed over the whole neaderthal thing, but thats another story........

My questions is "what do other religions say about pre-historic events?" Dinosaurs, the ice age (both we know were real) and such like. I ask this because I have naff all knowledge of other religions and wondered what their take on it was.

As always, this isn't a dig, it's me trying to gather up some more knowledge. If anyone knows about dinosaurs mentioned in the bible please say so.

...a place to go for someone to lecture you as to what to believe spiritually, or as a place to go to share in your spirituality, augment your beliefs, and explore your spirituality with others?

Is there dialog in your spiritual gathering place, or only a one-way monologue? How does this influence your spirituality?

I'm posting my answer to another question as a question in itself because I really want opinions on my idea.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Adam and Eve weren't people.

"X and Y were in the genetic workshop and they were raw" is a better interpretation than "Adam and Eve were in the garden of eden and they were naked."

The serpent is radiation, the tree of life is the primordial soup, the tree of knowledge is the emergent DNA.

Tree. Trunk and branch. Genetic divergence.

This part of Genesis appears to be talking about evolution. The symbolism is both obvious and undeniable.

Why do you think creation of other 'people' wasn't mentioned? Because Genesis wasn't talking about people as individuals but as a genetic code.

When Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others pray to their God do you think it"s the same God but simply using different names for that deity?

Mahatma Gandhi of Indian once said "The soul of religion is one, but it is encased in a multitude of forms"

Is this true or false?

This is a touchy topic. However, I feel that religion is an organized way to control the way of thinking for a group of people. This is why there are so many denominations. Religion is mans work and not GOD work.

Before Jesus, the church was made up of clergymen who represented the people to GOD. In return, the people were taxed for that representation. GOD sent his son JESUS CHRIST to tell the people that every man is a representation of HIS image and it is through the action of his only SON is the gateway to HEAVEN and eternal life. So, JESUS was a challenged to the church and this way of thinking. As punishment, JESUS was crucified.

Churches today are simply 501 3(c) organizations. The purposes are to maintain membership and gain revenue. To do so, they control your way of thinking and make it seem guilty if you don't donate your 10%. The Preacher is the representation for you to GOD.

Isn't this the same thing of the past that JESUS chanllenged?

Any thoughts?

"The miracle of the Sun that took place at the Cova `da`Iria in the townland of Fatima cannot be explained by science and has to have been the work of God"

What a great statement! It effectively means "we cannot explain it therefore god did it" Does this person not realise that 2000 years ago the list of things that 'god did' would have been huge and it is getting smaller and smaller by the decade? Brilliant piece of non thought.

Aren't religious authorities to religion what lawyers are to the law: people who profit from confusion, and the more confusion there is, the more profit to be made?

If the Golden Rule is the sum of all wisdom, why do you need a religious authority to explain it to you?

I've been thinking about this one whilst at work..... We are all made up of matter and matter can be equated to E-mc^(2) - matter / energy constitutes what we are. So if someone was (in my case) 25 Light years away and had a big telescope pointing at me - they'd actually see me being born. If they kept looking and as time passed they'd see my first birthday, first day at school e.t.c. So...... I think this....we never actually 'die' - our whole life is (in the form of light / energy or matter even) travelling somewhere around the Universe at the speed of light. All it needs is for someone to be looking in the right direction at the right time......
