I'm posting my answer to another question as a question in itself because I really want opinions on my idea.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Adam and Eve weren't people.
"X and Y were in the genetic workshop and they were raw" is a better interpretation than "Adam and Eve were in the garden of eden and they were naked."
The serpent is radiation, the tree of life is the primordial soup, the tree of knowledge is the emergent DNA.
Tree. Trunk and branch. Genetic divergence.
This part of Genesis appears to be talking about evolution. The symbolism is both obvious and undeniable.
Why do you think creation of other 'people' wasn't mentioned? Because Genesis wasn't talking about people as individuals but as a genetic code.

I do not believe in your god and yet I am nonetheless astonished at the genetic knowledge that is displayed in this book. I can't explain how it got there when even after the mangling of the bible by the council of Nicaea, nobody knew about genetics in this detail. How can you not accept this interpretation when it is a mystery that points to divine knowledge being passed down? It actually causes me to have some doubts about my disbelief.

Also isn't it ironic that after all the proselatysing that has been thrown at me over the years to no effect, that I end up shooting myself in the foot with this?

Eve from Adam's rib: Rib = side. When DNA replicates it first splits into two separate strands which you could concievably think of as ribs. Consider that female is XX and male is XY. Now consider the X splitting from two XY combining to form an XX.

biggestjesusfan: We've all heard of sin being referred to as corruption and satan as the corrupter. Radiation (the serpent) corrupts cells. Perhaps sin means deviation from the original genetic blueprint. Sin in the classic sense is deviation from god's plan. The parallel is worth considering.

Ex Head: Perhaps I am confused. I'm not stating that this is how it is, only offering an alternative interpretation. I have read the bible, for 15 years as a christian (C of E). Whether I was reading it 'spiritually' is subjective and neither you or I can make that determination. I must point out that you are one one hand saying get the word from the original text and on the other hand saying use a concordance (definitely not the original text). Anyway, my point is that 'correctly translated' is subjective and the accepted translation is not neccessarily more correct than mine. All I am asking for is an open mind.

Personally I am inclined to go with the Bible account in Genesis rather thanyour version!
AS WITH other things that are misrepresented or misunderstood, the first chapter of the Bible deserves at least a fair hearing. The need is to investigate and determine whether it harmonizes with known facts, not to mold it to fit some theoretical framework. Also to be remembered, the Genesis account was not written to show the “how” of creation. Rather, it covers major events in a progressive way, describing what things were formed, the order in which they were formed and the time interval, or “day,” in which each first appeared.
2 When examining the Genesis account, it is helpful to keep in mind that it approaches matters from the standpoint of people on earth. So it describes events as they would have been seen by human observers had they been present. This can be noted from its treatment of events on the fourth Genesis “day.” There the sun and moon are described as great luminaries in comparison to the stars. Yet many stars are far greater than our sun, and the moon is insignificant in comparison to them. But not to an earthly observer. So, as seen from the earth, the sun appears to be a ‘greater light that rules the day’ and the moon a ‘lesser light that dominates the night.’—Genesis 1:14-18.
3 The first part of Genesis indicates that the earth could have existed for billions of years before the first Genesis “day,” though it does not say for how long. However, it does describe what earth’s condition was just before that first “day” began: “Now the earth proved to be formless and waste and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep; and God’s active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.”—Genesis 1:2.

Close. The Hebrews wrote the Old Testament, and Hebrew tradition, (Torah, Talmud, Kaballah, etc), says the story of Eden was symbolic.
The "tree" symbolizes the dimensions as they go from us up to the Source of Life.
Eve, being made from Adams "rib", the middle of his body. Shows woman is not above, or below a man. But equal to him in the eyes of our Creator.
The serpent has always been the symbol of knowledge.
Like the two serpents on the physicians staff of the Medical Associations.
They say there is an exact duplicate in the spirit world of everything in our World. Some believe the original Adam and Eve existed long ago in Heaven, (paradise), Eden, (paradise)? And the human form was brought here "after" the spirits got caught in our lower material dimension, by hanging around here too long, and crystalizing like, or becoming heavier due to the forces that create this most solid dimension.

You are confused big time. It stands to reason that you have never read Gods Word, and IF you have you did not understand what you were reading Spiritually. This is the 1st time I have ever heard of something like this in my life. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil IS Satan, and Eve was seduced by him. I know that there Will be probably 100% of people reading this that will think I am crazy, BUT one MUST take the Word of God BACK to the Original Texts to be able to know what the Scriptures MEAN. The ONLY reference I use for my answers are Gods Word, the Holy Scriptures, CORRECTLY translated. GET a Strong's Concordance and it will help you greatly.

Maybe why you think of it in this way is because God gave us the genetic code and all the genes to go with it. The Bible even tells us that sin changes these genes. "...a curse without a cause does not come." Proverbs 26:2 Every disease is a sin and a curse.
Throughout the Bible you hear of the tree and the branches. You hear of the seed and the harvest. God explained what He is doing in the most basic and simple way by using seed time and harvest time and by using the tree, root, trunk, and branches.
He explained Jesus as The Branch of God. God explained His 3 parts and God explained our 3 parts. I think we would be surprised at how many things have 3 parts.
The Bible mentions the "seed of the serpent." So Satan sewed into people his seed of evil and sin.
Keep reading the Bible and watch God reveal Himself to you. I pray that He does quickly.

It's a Mesopotamian story of the Steppe Gardens of the Gods.
The snake is the common adversary in Mesopotamian mythology.
The Genesis Creation myth in chapter one is a version of an ancient Mesopotamian story of the god EL. The original version has EL in a boat on the water hunting a dove when he spies two women bobbing up and down on the shore. He has sex with them and they give birth to Dawn and Dusk. And the morning and the evening were the first day.
Another version has EL and his wife Ashtarte giving birth to the gods over a period of seven days. Each gods precisely matches the created thing of each day in the Genesis version. The latter rewrites were the result of the Monotheism of the Jews, enforced by various kings who were trying to consolidate their power.
P.S. There is no genetic knowledge displayed in the book. You are reading your knowledge into it, knowledge that the original authors would have stoned you to death for suggesting.
It's like when someone reads that the 'whole world' was submerged during Noah's flood and they forget that no one in that region had the modern notion of a spherical planet orbiting the sun. They just meant that, as far as they could see in all directions, it was pretty wet.

never saw it that way , extremely interesting .
But the bible does say that God created the world in 6 literal days and Genesis would be too huge a book to carry around had it explained the generations of pro creation through Adam and Eve . Faith plays a big part also . ( those of us left to have it )
I still think it's a darn good interpretation for a non believer .

You forgot one thing. How do you explain how sin came into this world? The story of Adam and Eve shows that Eve was tempted by the snake and Eve disobeyed God and ultimately ushered sin into this world. Adam and Eve were born without a sin nature, but every person born into this world after, was born with a sin nature, except for Jesus Christ. Your interpretation may make sense for those that have not been saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and who do not have a relationship with God, but to those who are living in the light, it is a bunch of rubbish.
Edit: to the person above me: the literal meaning of Genesis means " The Beginning"

Interesting, but it misses the point. The author is making a case for the goodness of God, the goodness of that which He fashioned, and the frailty and sin of mankind with its resulting disharmony between God and mankind, man and man, man and himself, man and nature. The one obvious symbol is the death of the animal for the clothing of the couple. This foreshadows the sacrifice of Christ.
