How do I find a benefactor for myself ? I am a young lady who was presented with what was thought to be a terminal illness. My illness is now in remission, but I unfortunately find myself finacially and emotionally drained. I desperately need help. How can I find someone out there who would be willing to help me based on my character and good will or would be willing to offer me a faith based loan ?

Are you on here, to ask religious or spiritual questions/ give answers to such questions; or to poke fun of those who have a belief in God?

We think we are special because we have the capacity to think, reason, and realize that we are people. This is the Christian explanation of the mind- a soul. Unfortunately, many primate species and dolphins are also self-aware (IE with "theory of mind", self-recognition etc). So either we go to heaven with dolphins or we don't go anywhere. Which sounds more logical to you?

The problems with the answer i think i will get are that they will tell me that animals have no soul, therefore are not affected by the bible. But think of it this way:

How can homosexuality be a sin when there are homosexual animals?
Since gay animals are found in the wild, homosexuality must have some natural (IE genetic) basis. This has been proven through irregular growths in the SDN-POA, Amygdala, and Hypothalamus. So either animals are sinners, or Christians need to retranslate the bible one more time, or something is really off?

For many Christians belief in creationism seems as important as belief in God. I'm amused at their false "proofs" against evolution. Most really believe these silly arguments because it's what they're taught, and they don't challenge their leaders.

A few:
>It's just a theory (so is number theory; so math isn't real?)
>If man evolved from monkeys (wrong) why are there still monkeys?
>No transitional forms, missing links (false, there are many)
>Carbon dating is grossly inaccurate (yet all real scientists trust it?)
>Evolution can't be proven (not if you reject evidence & logic, but yes it can, & has been)
>Evolution should still be ongoing (it is)
>2nd law of thermodynamics; the "watch parts in a tumbler" argument (falsely assumes that specific animals were the "goal" of evolution)
>God (or Satan) planted fossels to trick us (why?)
>Man's made in God's image & God's not a monkey (just dumb)
>The Earth is only 10,000 years old (uh-huh)

What are your favorites?

How was it determined that this should be part of the Bible when the format is completely different than the other books?

The story of a divine child being born of a virgin mother on December 25th, performing healings and resurrections, having 12 disciples (the signs of the zodiac), and having a last supper with flattened bread (which had crosses on them by the way to symbolize the sun) was all done a few thousand years before Jesus. Yes, Jesus is a rip-off of the Persian god of "light and truth" (those symbols Sound familiar?). Mithra makes Jesus look like a cheesy rerun.

So, what do you think about that?

There was a council in the Middle Ages/Renaissance to determine what went into the Bible and what didn't based on the beliefs of those in attendance. Based on that, who is to say that any of the other books that have been discovered over time have absolutely no validity whatsoever in comparison? There was a reason those books were written in the first place yet they were shunned as blasphemy even today. What gives man the right to decide what God agrees with and doesn't? If the Bible was truly infallible and inerrant (its many discrepancies aside) why are those other books not included by man's decision? God could have ordered that they be included and then ignored.

Statistically speaking, I'd say about half or less Christians actually practice true Christianity. So the question, based on the argument of "God's grace", is the following. Can a loving God let all of these children suffer eternally?

When people say they are going to heaven, they assume they will be next to God. But if they are next to God right now, they are setting themselves up for a big disappointment?

A few years ago I was speaking with a woman who I had only known for a short time. We got into a conversation about religion and she told me about how she had lost her faith in the Catholic church. This was simply a conversation, not a debate.
She told me about when she and her husband were engaged at 18 yrs old and preparing to marry in the church. They were a month away from the wedding and ended up having sex. She was so upset and riddled with guilt that she was convinced their marriage couldn't be blessed in holy union. They met with their priest and he told them that they were forgiven and that there was no reason they couldn't still be married to each other by the church.
The woman was so shaken that the priest was still permitting them to marry that she said it completely shook her faith and that soon after she was married she left the church.
I'm not questioning how the priest counseled her but I'm wondering what it was exactly that she was looking for.

OUCH!!!! Christians, how can you put so much faith into a book of death...

"And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes..." (I Chronicles 20:3)

"And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, 'Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.'" (Numbers 25:3-4)

"And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead." (Exodus 12:29-30)

If you think about it, it doesn't make sense. You can't plead ignorance anymore either, all the info is online, just look it up. Yet people still convert in blind faith. Why would SO many people do that and STILL be doing it?

People don't always go atheist when they see something false in their religion either, they sometimes just change religions. My theory (i don't know if you'll agree with this) is this: the intricacies of religion don't mean anything, all that matters is you're closer to god.

I honestly do not think Christians care about all the contradictions, it means nothing to them because it's not important. Just like any other religion doesn't care about it's problems. It's like there's SOMETHING there, but no religion has it right but they all have a piece of it. What do you think?
