From what I have seen, yes, I agree. It works for many. Most evngelists I listen to on the radio are saved from their life of evil; drugs, sex, theft, immorality, etc. Seems like the harder their life, the more intense they are about being "saved". Group support is a great thing, people feel accepted and in an "in-group" often for the first time in their life. However, true healing comes from self-forgiveness and inner strength to move on and be a better person. I often laugh when people with a religious background ask me where I get my morals from if not from religion. If I don't live a good life for god, then it's not possible to have good morals because I live for myself! Strange logic! Funny thing is, I've been a member of a few different religions, just never saw any truth to them and met some of the worst people in my life. I decided to be a good person, to study the bible and it's beginnings, and to understand why people believe in such stories. Long story, short... I'm still trying to understand them, but I have an extensive knowledge of the bible, the manuscripts it came from, the canonization of it and the politics throughout the centuries and how that has propagated the bible, christianity, and religion in general. Ever wonder why most red states have higher percentages of poverty, crime, religion and lower percentages of educated people? How about televangelists who are immoral in that they pursue prostitutes, purchase illegal drugs, and churches that cover molestation and apply for bankruptcy so that the 700+ charges against their church will be driopped out of court because they can not afford to take them to court...? The religious right is strong, they even stopped the Discovery channel from airing the Director's Cut of the Lost Tomb of Jesus!!! That was incredible! Scary to think about the people so involved in religion and the power they have gained due to followers just as weak if not weaker... It's a sad, sad time for all of us.

Obviously you are young.

We are born and we will die. What we do in between is up to us. We are our beliefs; those that we choose and that we have when we make no choice.

There is revelation which we may belief or not belief. My belief is that the bible is the word of God as spoken through the prophets. The prophets say many thing, but it is that no one move towards the father except through Jesus. When God raised Jesus from the dead, we have hope for life eternal.

This is what the prophets say. You can believe it or not. If you have difficulty walking, a crutch could be helpful.

Well what I can make out, Jesus did not have a church however he did teach about spirituality in the fields, hills and so on. Jesus was a Healer and a Spiritual Teacher and in his doing's was making the way for man to follow his footsteps
For we can all do what Jesus did if we take the time to work with our Spiritual tools.
We can all Heal with our hands and even with Love from our Hearts.
We are not here to judge people from their mistakes but to except them as mistakes.
We don't have to go to Church to prey as we can do that anywhere and anytime.
We do not need to seek forgiveness we just to learn to forgive ourselves and see them as a lesson and try not to make the same mistake again.
Life is to be lived and enjoyed and only we can make ourselves happy.
We all know right from wrong and we just have to learn self responsibility instead of blaming others.

If Jesus was the son of God, and we are all God's children doesn't that makes us all equal ?
So to believe in Jesus is the same as believing in ourselves : )

Love & Blessings
Milly

If that is so why is it that I strongly believe in Jesus, I go to church, and I'm not living in hard times by any stretch of the imagination. My life is fullfilling and pleasant.
