to forgive the Kermit for all of the things I've said in the past?

I have been nothing other than horrid to you, and I have actually received nothing but mostly kind words and faith reinforcement back.

You have taught me something about faith, and not pinning something on someone that is innocent.

Councilman Salahuldin has taught me what a man of true faith is all about. It's good to see in this day.

I have a question about the statues that depict Buddha. Some seem to be what I would call the sleeping or meditating Buddha. He is in the lotus position or sitting and has his eyes closed I believe and is thin. He seems to be wearing some sort of headdress. Then there is the Statute of the fat laughing buddha, generally showing him smiling os laughing with a bald head sometimes with raised arms and some sort of backpack. What is the symbolic difference or meaning of the two depictions of Buddah? Thank You for an informed answer.

What is a Scientific Theory? Is it something that is continously worked on until proven? Or is it something that can be dismissed because it holds no validity? Explain it to me in your own words. Don't worry I have a followup question planned for a different group next. There's a reason to my madness believe me when I tell you this.

We have quite a few heated topics here every hour of every day. Has anyone changed their mind yet? Anyone believe in God that never did before. Anyone thought they knew God, but have since retracted that belief?

Over the years of Earth's history, single voices, such as Jesus, have brought the world into "New Eras" of understanding. Just think how many times, in the history of Earth, the phrase "We're heading into a New Era of Time" has been said. Even today, there is a mass concensus of a "New Time" ahead of us.

The question is, do we need a Single Voice, such as the Return of Jesus, or do we need a concensus of the masses in order to bring a peace amongst this world?

Think about it...

If Jesus were to return into the times of today, isn't it obvious that he would just be laughed at by the masses, given there are so many battles of beliefs going on in todays world?

Doesn't it make more sense that if God wanted his word spread in our time today, that it would need to be done virally thru many voices, as opposed to one?

In real life my name is Sean. I'm 29. I have a wife and a son. I'm a Republican, but liberal on the social issues. I have a job in corporate America in payroll.
I like movies - scifi and comics,
I like sports like football.
I read science magazines and books.
I'm not into music a lot but enjoy it sometimes.

---

Would you be friends with that person, Sean, in real life, if you never met "Jim Darwin".

I don't really like Jim Darwin anymore and want to call myself Mayor Sean.

Thanks for reading.

I have come to the conclusion that Free Will cannot exist.

According to Psalm 139:13-16: "13For you created me in my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15My frame was not hidden from you when I was in that secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

If all my days are written in his book, how can one possibly have free will?? This is realy only an illusion!!

If God KNOWS I will be asleep tomorrow at noon, there is no way possible for me to FREELY CHOOSE to be awake at that very moment. Period, end of discussion. God knows I will be asleep and he is omnisicnet and knows all. I cannot change that. I do not have the free will to wake at that time.

So where is my free will??

Less than a week until spring!

Anyway, the Pope.....He seems a little more dogmatic to me that John Paul II. However, perhaps this is just because he doesn't have as good a way with the media, or isn't as personable?

What is your view on the current pontiff?

I really appreciate all those who take a moment to review and ponder this. Thanks and blessings be unto all of you!

I do not believe we should allow our Church leaders to be overbearing or too powerful in their positions. Also, I do not believe that it was intended for the Catholic Church to become as 'wealthy' or 'dominating' as it has become.
Example, the Catholic Church creates beautiful structures worth billions of dollars and stand on elaborate ceremony. Was this what Jesus wanted? I think not. What Jesus wanted for his followers to do was spread the Good News. That is to say that they were meant to show love and kindness to all the nations and be a light upon the hill. With the money the Catholic Church spends on its ceremonies and structures you would think that money better spent going to the poor and needy who need food and clothes.
Furthermore, I do not believe that the Catholic Church should pose such tight controls on its people. God wants a personal relationship with his children and no man based authority can stand in the way of that...

Catholic Bishops authorized the canonization of the New Testament as we know it. Why use it if you don't accept our Church as legitimate?
