I believe that not everything in life is real.

No. "Life" is a popular board game from the 60's which has been ported to computers. But, it is just pretend.
But now that I think about it, "Life" is also a popular breakfast cereal made by the Quaker Oats Company. I have just tried their new chocolate version, and let me tell you, it is definitely real. Real tasty.

Life, like everything else, arises due to causes and conditions, is changing and impermanent. Much of what we perceive in life (thoughts, opinions, matter) is rather illusory, like the colors skimming across a soap bubble, not permanent, changing constantly and all depending on where it is in light, etc. to determine which colors we see before the bubble disintigrates. We can choose what we want to cling to in life and what we want to subdue our minds to, how much suffering we really do and so on... just my opinion from a Buddhist perspective.

If life isn't "real," then what is? I mean, it's pretty simple to prove philosophically that we don't exist, and yet here we are. Life may be an illusion, but it's all we know, so it's OUR "reality." That deep enough for ya?

This world is the divine play. You can not deny your character/role in the play is real...but in that it is only a role you also know it is not real.
So my take is - life is and is not real.
