I grew up in a non religious household... but married into one. My mother in law always pointed out to me the good that religion has on people... telling me that everyone needs some. She has since past. She was a very good person, and I agreed to instill what she said to me in my children.. I now have a 7 & 2 yr old. My 2 yr old has Cerebral palsy and by the end of each day.. after dealing with a son who has seizures, can't walk, talk, go to the bathroom w/out being in extreme pain, and struggling thru out the day with trying to help him cope with all of this.. not to mention teething, colds and making time for my 7 yr old, by the end of the day the last thing I want to do is look up and give thanks. I fact by the end of the night I am usually asking "when does this poor kid get a break"? Please if there is anyone out there with some advice I'd really appreciate it. I keep this to myself in my personal life, pretending to believe in god so my daughter and son have there own opinions.

Why are so many christians saying, "don't play with the occult" or "people who play with the occult go to hell!"? Occult means, 'the unseen' so isn't christianity the occult? I mean we pray to god we have not seen, we ask for help, when someone prays a rosary or lights a candle for someone's well being thats messing with the occult, messing with unseen forces, angels, praying to dead saints, a mystical god, and banishing a mystical dark force. Well isn't it? Not to mention the bible has occult practices throughout it. There is David who really just lived in the future predicting events left and right. Joseph, (the guy with the amazing technicolor dreamcoat) was a dream interpretour. And the witch at Endor! What about these, online there is this guy who says that prophets of God are alway 100% right, now how can that be?

My VOTE: People of the Islamic Faith.

Time and time again they hold themselves to a higher standard on these boards then any other religion.

If jesus has a internet connection, a WHOLE LOTTA CHRISTIANS have a lot to answer for when they see st. peter.

As for atheists, well you know how WE are :P

But again, i wanna say well done islamists (that the right term?), and your candor and willingness to talk about these issues we have in reasonable manner has made me look at your faith in a new light and i am making a point to become more educated in your belief system.

What do you guys think?

Help me out here....

I mean, is it the ceramic nature of a statue which makes praying to it a sin or what?
Why is it OK for non catholics to pray to a cross? It's basically just two planks of intersecting wood?

And Catholics don't pray to the statue. That's retarded, Say if a Catholic is praying infront of a statue of Jesus, they wouldn't be praying to the statue, they'd be praying to Jesus. The statue a) has an aesthetic appeal, and b) reminds us of who we are praying to. Being human beings, physical manifestations of things make us feel more attached to something. Why else do people take photos, for example?

Praying infront of a statue is no different to going to a holy place to pray. You're still praying to the same person, the surrounds are just different.

He's the British evolutionary biologist who wrote "The God Delusion" and made the television documentary called "The Root of All Evil?".

Here's the first part of that program: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2l5xMUL3ncY

So... is he a "servant of Satan", as someone recently suggested here on Y!A?

o......k....... i didn't get anything usefull out of that. all i got was "it was an inspiretion of god": im mainly asking if god is real, out of all these questions, since you have not yet proven that god is real dont use it like "it was an inspiretion of GOD" cause he wasn't yet proven.

last question on faith turned out to be a lot of giberish, try again please and this time try to answer the question here, not another.

and the bible said he is the firstborn (colossians 1:15) and also said that angels are sons of God (job 1:6) And he was among the angels in Hebrew 1:6. So that means that Jesus is the elder brother of the angels?

I know there was a war in Heaven and a third of the angels fell. So that tells us that God created a race of beings prior to the creation of humanity, right?

But why did God create us?

This is my personal favorite. Ask a Christian the following: "If Zeus came out of the sky and said he was the God of the universe and renounced Jesus as having any divine power, would you still believe in Jesus?" Every Christian says "yes I would still believe in jesus". This proves, (regardless of whether or not Christianity is right or wrong) that they would actively believe in something that was proven wrong. If Zeus came down I sure as hell would worship him.

P.S.: If you don't have anything IMPORTANT to say, stay out of it, i dont want "your such a hater!" comments. If you've got nothing intellegent to say then your better off not saying anything.

I mean some of these other churches are so worried and
concerned about other peoples sin
like they are little gods or something and they are out to rid
the world of sin
And yet what about their sins, they act just like
they have no sin in their lives and they seem to think
they own every human being and they are so focused on
your sins and my sins and yet what about them are they free
from their sins or not and I do not think so

As a man or woman thinks so they are

Why can't everyone call the U.S. a religiously free nation with a majority of Christians? Why do Christians call it a Christian nation founded on Christianity. Thomas Jefferson disliked the bible enough to strip it and rewrite it, leaving it behind in secret so that it could be published after his death. After interviewing the people closest to George Washington on religion after his death, they claimed he was a proud deist in hiding. We see letters criss crossing founding fathers left and right explaining to each other their disregard for Christianity. From Pain, Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, all the way to Adams we have letters mocking Christianity. What grounds do Christians have to make their claim? Most Christians would call me everything other than a Christian if I rewrote the bible and left it behind for people to find after my death. There are many records showing the top Christian founders rarely showing up at church. Please write in detail why the founders were so Christian.

as some points of religion and philosophy are beyond empirical proof couldn't they be settled by non leathal combat?
and a friday night smackdown with pope benedict and the grand mufti would make compelling viewing. though the thought of them in bikinis disturbs me a bit.

In many families, pets play an essential role. They amuse the kids, they don't talk, they have empathy for human owners, they teach responsibility, they offer comfort. Sooo...

If a pet is a de facto family member, considered by parents and kids to be a part of the family, what happens to these 'other' family members after death. In view of rebirth/karmic law/resurrection, can one hope to be reunited with their pets?

Why faith, why not truth, i've heard by other people that god said somewhere "truth denies faith" but why have faith in the first place? why is truth not better? it seems to me already that all cristians are following something that they cant see, something they dont know is real, they are shouting into a dark room thinking that someone hears them. i mean if god intended for me to find out about him through faith, then you might as well throw me in hell, cause i dont know where i can find him in the dark room and im triping over things i have to get by (bad things in life). All this for something i dont know is real??? (and please donot use the answer "the bible tells us to" because its my under standing that we humans made the bible.
