Why faith, why not truth, i've heard by other people that god said somewhere "truth denies faith" but why have faith in the first place? why is truth not better? it seems to me already that all cristians are following something that they cant see, something they dont know is real, they are shouting into a dark room thinking that someone hears them. i mean if god intended for me to find out about him through faith, then you might as well throw me in hell, cause i dont know where i can find him in the dark room and im triping over things i have to get by (bad things in life). All this for something i dont know is real??? (and please donot use the answer "the bible tells us to" because its my under standing that we humans made the bible.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.

Do you sit in chairs? Do you have faith that they will hold your weight or do you have to touch each chair and test and see if it's acceptable to sit on?

You have enough people here that can give you examples of things that have happened by faith. I traveled with a Christian Drama Comany on the road for 8 1/2 years and lived by faith and didn't always know where the next meal was coming from or if we'd have a place to stay but God ALWAYS provided.

If you work, do you believe you will have a job tomorrow? If you answered yes, you have faith.
The Bible says that "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen".
The dictionary defines faith as "confidence or trust in a person or thing".
If you do not believe in God, then this is a mute point. If you do believe in God then you should take this to heart. It is impossible to please God without faith.
On a side note, please explain or provide information on your opening statement. I do not have a clue as to the whereabouts of God ever saying "truth denies faith". Thanx.
The bad things in your life are there for two reasons. First, choices you made. Second, so that you can learn from them.
Surely you have said at least once in your life, that things will get better. Either for you or someone else. Right? FAITH.
We use our faith everyday and most of the time we do not even realize it. Truth is not always right in front of us. Many walk around in darkness trying to find some sort of truth. As soon as a voice cries for help, God will be there to lend a helping hand. He will help you out of the "dark room" and lead you into the light.
The Bible reveals so much truth to us but if we don't have faith to believe or accept it, we will never come out of the dark room and continue to trip over things.

The best I can do is tell you the truth and then it's up to you.
You are almost 180 degrees out from the truth. After some time walking with Jesus I can say that I am not totally sure that I exist but I know that Jesus is lord. All of creation "shouts into a dark room" But we don't see a dark room. It is all lit up to us. It is only dark from the outside.
Play my silly game for a second. You are on the roof of a burning building. Someone tells you there is a rope that you can use to get down to safety. You can then do whatever you want. You can pretend the rope does not exist. You can pretend there is no fire in the building, You can use your mighty super powers of deductive reasoning to make it disappear and all the people who believe in the rope to be fools, but you are still on the roof. We are simply the foolish people who have enough FAITH in the rope to be climbing down to safety.

Faith is a Divine gift from God - it is actually knowing, not just believing but actually knowing God. And unfortunately it is one of things that you have to have in order to fully understand it.

I don't think that truth denies faith at all. Faith should be based in truth. Often times we mix religion up with faith. We believe that certain religions have to be true - 100%. Religions is man-made. It can contain some truth, but definitely not all of it. So sometimes truth can deny religion.

One should always seek the truth. I did - and that's how I ended up with faith - the knowledge of God.

God doesn't expect you to go blundering in the dark, to go on a wing and a prayer. God is right there, waiting for you. There is no believing or hoping involved. All you have to do is ask.

Truth may be very difficult to define. What is truth for you may be false for another.
God has indeed touched many and given them the gift of faith; faith is a gift that is freely given; it can't be bought.
Then again, faith and reason seem to go very well together.

We may be able to live without truth but everyone needs faith to live a normal life. You would need faith in a pilot to travel on an airplane; you would need faith to drive through the Eisenhower tunnel; you will even need faith to believe that that sun will rise on time.

Faith will help you realize that God does exist. His word is a lamp unto your feet in that dark room. Read His Word, and you won't trip over some things, talk to Him, He'll answer, and you'll know He's there, and follow His voice.....and soon enough, you'll be in His presence.

All the roads lead to judgement. Only one road leads to eternal life. This is called Jesus' Way. His way is the highway. As for the other roads.....you know where they lead.

But here's the thing....you're not going to get to Him if you say "ok, I'll read the Bible just to read it", or "I'll read to disprove it", or anything like that. Read the Bible as you are searching for God....seek and you shall find.

God bless you.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

By the way, the Bible was written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Man was but a vessel to bring it to written form.

I am sorry that you cannot find God or acceptable faith. However, no one can force you to believe anything. As for us Christians following what we cannot see and thinking someone hears us shout in the dark, it's all a matter of our beliefs. We believe that there is a God who takes care of us and helps us when we stumble in the dark, but just because that's what we think doesn't mean you have to think so too. If you disagree, fine. But don't call us out on something as stupid as a difference in beliefs. You don't have to agree with our beliefs, or even like them. But you do have to tolerate them, because chances are they're not gonna change. As for the Bible, yes. Humans did write the Bible. However, it was based on personal interactions with God and is another example of the faith that you so obviously scorn. It's our book; you needn't touch it if you wouldn't like to. Just let us be and let it go. I have had so many experiences that gave me faith in God and proof in the love of Jesus Christ. I really am sad that you have been unfortunate enough not to experience the feeling of being saved. But if you're not gonna change, leave us and our faith alone. It's your head on the chopping block.

And you misspelled tripping.

why not the answer "the bible tells us to" we humans --not I--I'm not that old......lol God had humans write the bible by what he said, laugh all you want, it's ok I don't care what people think of my faith, it's my faith and if you don't like it, then don't but that would be the answer I could give. also truly, faith is something you just feel, you feel it deep into your soul, can't explain faith, it is what it is....
