I have my elderly grandfather here, John. He is very ill and has been told he may not see the end of March. He served in the Navy throughout WW2 and afterwards, and is the last of his wartime friends left alive. He says he saw the ocean claim many lives, German, American and British, and hopes that he will be with them all again before long.
He is sad as he thinks now our generation has forgotten WW2, and all who fought on both sides; he has long since forgotten those who killed his friends, his friends who killed enemy sailors, and the ships that sent him in to the waves more than once. So please can you post here your thanks to our veterans, of all sides or all conflicts, so I can show him we still remember. Please also add where you are from- he wants to hear from everyone.
He finally asks that you remember the living and dead of your nation and it's allies, but don't forget the old enemies- they were just young lads too.
Thank you so much, from me and Grandfather John!
