I have my elderly grandfather here, John. He is very ill and has been told he may not see the end of March. He served in the Navy throughout WW2 and afterwards, and is the last of his wartime friends left alive. He says he saw the ocean claim many lives, German, American and British, and hopes that he will be with them all again before long.

He is sad as he thinks now our generation has forgotten WW2, and all who fought on both sides; he has long since forgotten those who killed his friends, his friends who killed enemy sailors, and the ships that sent him in to the waves more than once. So please can you post here your thanks to our veterans, of all sides or all conflicts, so I can show him we still remember. Please also add where you are from- he wants to hear from everyone.

He finally asks that you remember the living and dead of your nation and it's allies, but don't forget the old enemies- they were just young lads too.

Thank you so much, from me and Grandfather John!

For 2000 years Christians have been claiming that their rapture is coming. Every year nutbags have run around "the end is coming, the end is coming". Yet, every year it passes and they move it back another year.

They're trying desperately to claim that its now due to things that have been happening. The problem with that is that nothing has been happening now that hasn't happened in the past. The difference is only the technology level. There's always been war, pain, strife, hunger, what the Christians term "immoral behavior" (things like having sex before marriage), and all the rest.

Its no different.

So whats it going to take for you to realize that its not going to happen? TWO THOUSAND years not long enough for you to realize it? There comes a point at which you just have to give up and move on.

They always seen to be doing some program or documentary on the religion. Either on their website or TV channels, I'm so bored of it.

Is it possible to opt out of this and hence pay less on my TV licence?

It doesn't make sense to me. That would be like cursing like a sailor around a child and then being surprised and angered when the child curses too. I would blame the parents, not the child.

since there are so many versions and translations, each for every Christian Branch?

So then, which is the "true" Bible?

The Southern Baptist Bible? The Catholic Bible? The Jehovah Witnesses' Bible? The Mormon Bible? The English Church Bible? The Protestant Bible?

The reason I ask is because a lot of people seem to go into Lent saying things like "oh I want to lose 25 lbs so I'm going to give up everything except salads and lean meats"....I do not think that is the point of Lent and I think it defeats the purpose of giving something up if you go into it with that mindset (I would understand an addict giving up whatever they were addicted to)....

Surely we are living in the last days, and the Bible teaches us that Satan's attacks will intensify during these perilous times.Satan attacks our marriage, our children, our jobs and our personal property. Our minds our emotions and our physical body. Actually, the list is enddless.....If we are faithful to the end we will share in all that belongs to Christ.

Two ladies will be in the laundromat wringing clothes and the laundromat will rupture and one will be taken and the other left, and the only question in my mind is when will all this chaos commence?

Praise be to Jesus and his half-cousin Bob.

To those of us Catholics who are getting ashes tomorrow (I am unsure if other Christian denominations do this), what time are you going (morning/evening) and are you going to wear them all day? I'm going in the morning and yes, all day long. I don't wash the ashes off until bedtime.

If you do NOT participate in Ash Wed, no smart aleck comments!

I am married now.....but a few years ago before I met my wife, I was in a Pentecostal church (big mistake right there).....I'm in a baptist church now...thank God.

It seemed as if being single was like a disease which automatically disqualified you from ministry....especially helping out with the youth group.

It's almost as if not having a wife and 5 kids meant you were a weird Christian.

This does not apply to all churches....let me make that clear.....

But has anyone else ever had that sense about being single in church?
