My sister had tried pushing me for years to follow her christian beliefs and I follow a lot of them but I cannot follow all of them because i believe in being a free thinker and i think some of the christian beliefs are discriminating and wrong. Anyway I tried but i lied to myself trying to believe things in ways other christians believe but i can not. It caused me so much stress and anxiety and i hated it. So i decided that i want to just be me and think for myself. I do follow a lot of christian beliefs but I cannot follow them all or a lot of them. I decided i just want to be free to be me and there is nothing ugly about that. ANyway my sister does not know that i have decided this and when she finds out and she will she will flip out. She can be so mean and judgemental. She started lecturing me when she found out i was doing yoga. What do i say to a strict christian when she finds out that i just want to think my way and not the way the church tries to make people think?

Why does following christianity brings me to god?
What is da deal with the bible that if i read i become attached to god?
What is the deal in doin ur rituals that i will reach god?
What has words, books, rituals have to do with god?
So is this god of urs, gives the ticket to heaven only if he is idolised and yearned?
So if i dun read the bible, i know nothing about jesus and christianity, but i stay as a good man, i go to heaven?
What if i decide to stay locked up in my room and jus play my guitar for the rest of my life and day by day slowly donate all my wealth to the poor while stayin locked up in the room? In that case, im a good man, i dun sin,i do good, but i dun follow ur religion at all, i dun read the bible,i dun know the existence of jesus and if ur answer is im not goin to heaven.then it clearly shows u r not preachin god but u r preachin christianity,u make ppl join ur clan thats all. Finally, what isit u noe bout heaven that u yearn to go ther?Whats da deal in heaven?

I would love to hear from adherents to all different religions. I would like to know if all people are allowed at your worship service or whatever it is that you have. And if they are allowed to fully participate in all aspects of the service. I hope I'll get answers from a variety of religions.

According to Mark 15:34, just before Jesus died on the cross, he

"cried with a loud voice 'Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani'
which is interpreted "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me'"

According to Mark, he died a few moments later without saying anything else. Does this mean that he been expecting God to save him, then just before he died finally realized that it wouldn't happen?

when we die?

Fact - The bible says the earth is in the order of thousands of years old, was created in 7 days and that we all come from Adam and Eve. The earth is actually several billion years old, and we evolved from a common ancestor.

If you are a creationist, then please don't bother answering. This is a question for intelligent people, not a discussion of the age of the universe as told by myths and legends.

I'm not a christian, just interested to see christian answers.

Someone recently asked if God (and I assume that means the Abrahamic deity) loves atheists... so now I'm wondering if Quetzalcoatl loves Christians.

Oh, and for those who don't know, Quetzalcoatl is the Feathered-Serpent deity of ancient Mesoamerican culture.

New souls had no past Karmas, then how would they be governed by the Karmic principles / past karmas? Who shall decide about it? Living beings are multiplying day by day? What shall be the maximum point?

With a palm full of lubriderm?

Would he use it to moisturize a lepar's skin?

Would he put some on a starving man's chapped lips?

Would he have moisturized his disciple's feet after washing them?

What would you do with a palm full of lubriderm?

I have a BSc (Hons) in Biological sciences. I can think of no discipline I have studied or worked with (biochemistry, microbiology, molecular, genetics, evolution, et al) which would set itself up to 'disprove or prove' the validity of either God or the bible. I do not believe the bible 'word for word' but I believe it message by message. I do not believe that science can offer a resolution to anything which relies upon faith. So much of our science is also a faith thing. One thing which I keep coming back to is the sheer staggering improbability of either RNA or DNA actually forming in the first place: the odds against this make astronomical numbers look small! It is difficult not to believe in God when you really have a hard look at this kind of thing.

I would love to believe in Jesus but I don't know how. I've read the Bible back to cover six times and talked to many pastors and just sat down and tried to believe. Nothing works.

Christians keep saying that belief is a choice. I find it hard to choose without sounding like a fake or a liar to myself. I was raised in a very pious Christian family and yet I never once believed in the doctrine for a second. To me it always seemed like adult make-believe.

So why do I want to believe? Simple: 1.) Without a divine plan all of my life's work and sacrifices are for nothing. The future extinction of souls would make it look like the present never happened. 2.) I want answers to the unanswerable questions that currently cannot be answered by any of the intellectual skills of mortal beings.

So what do I do now?

i cannot imagine a place such as hell being allowed by jesus.. and i graduated from a christian highschool, so i have read the bible..

why would such a forgiving and loving person, such a jesus, allow a person to be sentenced to an eternity of misery for a misdeed committed upon this earth? especially when he has already acknowledged that we are not perfect and can never be truly free from the sins that will commit here?

and to all of those who feel that this is an attack, it is not.. it is simply a question about a religion that i have a deep respect for.. and if youre like the one person that answered my last question by stating that "i was homosexual," i find that hilarious, and i hope to hear from you.. because i have not stopped laughing for the last five minutes, and i have never experienced such a prolonged pleasure in my life, outside the bedroom
