When you think you are all right and that "they" are all wrong, you can be sure there will be conflict.

It should be noted that religion oft tied with politics too...

It is a function of religion in terms not only of insisting that you are right and they are wrong but that, with many religions, such beliefs allow for the dehumanizing of others to the point of allowing murder.

On the other hand, a global assumption that religion leads to violence would be wrong. You need to learn more about unitarian universalists, the amish, and other religions that insist on non-violence. If non-violence is a key component of your religion (and not just lip service to the idea as with many Christians and Muslims), then your religion becomes a force for peace and reconciliation.

On the other hand, I feel someone could likewise argue that the peaceful religions exist in places not torn by war... Why? Because they are protected from war or is there no war in their areas because they promote peace? I don't know.

What I do know is that oppression and selfishness are the true sources of wars in our world. Greedy rich false christians and false muslims alike are using others to struggle over resources. Their true god is Mammon, not what they say.

Imagine this: if you were someone in Iraq and your home got bombed to hell and your family raped and beaten or killed, how would you feel?

Because people are:

a). Ignoring the quotes about tolerance, love and unity in their own Scriptures.

b). Failing to realize that all religions come from one God and worship the same God.

c). People use religion as an excuse for things which are totally against the spirit of the religions.

These can be overcome when people realize that all religions come from the same Source and teach the same Faith, which has been progressively revealed to humankind in every age and that each of these religions teach the same principles of love and unity. They must also "consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship", as Baha'u'llah was wont to say. The time has come for the unification of the whole human race. The time for division and hatred is over.

This happens because the great majority of the religions are far from God and His teachings.

By example, the most violent wars of history were fought by nations called Christians.

But this violent behavior was not what Jesus teach to his disciples. In Matthew 5:44-45 you can found how Jesus wanted the Christians to treat the people that even hated them: "However, I say to YOU: Continue to love YOUR enemies and to pray for those persecuting YOU; that YOU may prove yourselves sons of YOUR Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous."

So, Christians prove themselves to be true sons of the heavenly Father by loving even the people who hate them.

True christian most do as the Apostle Paul said to the Christians in Rome at Romans 12:18 "If possible, as far as it depends upon YOU, be peaceable with all men."

It is lack of true religion that causes problems. Jesus did not crucify himself. The lie always hates the truth and we are committed to always telling the truth.

It doesn't, people do things on their own agenda and then do them in the name of some religion.
Religion is like a hammer. You can use it to build a beautiful mansion, or you can hit someone over the head and kill them.
Its not the hammer, its the person who uses it.
