The Catholic church believes that the priest actually turns the wine into the blood of christ. I'm not talking literally, but think of the psychological damage this does to children when they are told they are drinking the blood of another person! Symbolic or not, doesn't this sound a little pagan to you?

I KNOW that it's not really blood, but grapejuice or wine. I KNOW it's symbolic. But it's still a BLOOD drinking ceremony. Taken from the pagans and adapted by catholics and christians all over. The killing of a virgin was symbolic as well. Think about it! The slaughtering of a lamb was symbolic.

Do any of you also slaughter lambs or cows in sacrifice to your God?

How about virgins over Volcanoes?

I have only gotten one......is it readily apparent that I am beyond redemption?

Or do they only choose to send the stuff to the clearly younger crowd who might take it more to heart?

I am going to be presiding over communion at my church for the first time since I was baptized, and am a little intimidated to be honest. I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas of what to talk about or any good scriptures.

If you want to buy a pet, you go to a pet shop.

If you want to buy a pet shop, you go to a pet shop shop.

If you want to buy a pet shop shop, well, that's just silly.

Okay back to the point.....

If you want to learn about Biology, you go to a Biologist.

If you want to learn about History, you go to a Historian.

If you want to learn about Physics, you go to a Physician.

But, why is it that.....

If people want to learn about Islam, they go to a Christian, and people will believe that Christian?

If people want to learn about Christianity, they go to an Atheist, people will believe that Atheist?

I remember these on ward notice boards but never knew who had written them. The first one has a line it "who do you see when you look at me" and is an old woman remembering her life. The second one says "I did not die " and something about being in another room. These are for a very dear friend who's wife of 62yrs died recently, we would both be very grateful.

Why do people reject the LORD. The only means of everlasting life. It seems pretty common sense to me why we should. People choose to die and to be separated from GOD forever? .....Just seems stupid to me. Seems like this one is a no brainer! I agree it's hard to walk in the light at times and foresake ourselves at times for the LORD and put up with persecution but JESUS made it pretty clear.... LOVE ME, LIVE FOR ME......or die forever.

Yes, I understand that people really want to be spiritual and most of the wars on this planet are because of religous beliefs etc. But it seems that for more then a thousand years now we have been preaching the same thing and wanting a "GOD" to come save us. But in "reality" only "man" can save us from desaster. And the world "IS" on the brink of desaster... We are dying. And our Planet is dying too. And the only thing humanity seems to agree on for the most part is that some divine being is coming for us all so it is ok to do what ever and not give a damn what happens. Faith is wonderful and all but even your bible says that "man" is responcible for what happens on this planet. And no human seems to get that at all. We keep making our own ideas about what or who is out there and all of them end with the conclusion of divine being... Well right now ALL of you are wrong no matter what you say or try to convince the other of because "nothing" has been proven. And mankind is going to die

Since so much of religion is based on "faith," how can you tell the difference between your deeply held faith and another's fantasy that is based on "make-believe?"

Is your faith based on the testimony of another human being (either living or dead, in writing or spoken word)? (If so, refer to the question in the previous paragraph.)
