Jesus himself was the sacrifice. He is the symbolism in the story when Abraham takes his son to 'sacrifice' and when his son asks "Where is the ram for the sacrifice, father?" Abraham says, "God Himself will provide the lamb for the sacrifice, my son." Jesus was that sacrifice - for my sin and for your sin.
Jesus was dead for three days and then rose again to proclaim His victory over death and offer eternal life to those who trust in Him. My husband and I had a discussion about this the other night. He says that eternal life and reward is the most attractive thing to him in being a Christian. I said the daily presence of Christ living me is an important thing to me.

Yes, he's quite dead. Unless a lot of people lied, he got his butt hung on a cross for preaching and claiming that he was someone else. And even if he didn't die then, as some suspect, then he surely died of old age anyway. Nothing happened, other than the formation of the "house of Jacob," or Christianity as it is usually called.
Regardless of that, I don't pray to anyone, unless you consider meditating for answers from God as "prayer." In that case I never consider "Jesus" at all.
He did sacrafice his life though, in order to form the "house of Jacob," which is predicted in many prophecies of the Old Testament. If not for that, we would have no way of determining those prophecies' accurary or credibly. The unfortunate part is that the "house of Jacob" views the entire prophecy as "fulfilled." That means that it will be harder for them to recognize the true "messiah" predicted in the prophecies. Jesus was indeed "Immanuel" from Isaiah, so they think that because he would be called "God," and other titles that he truly was "God." That is really a correct prophecy and fulfillment, and it includes his birth as part of the story. It's clearly stated in Isaiah 7-14.
All you have to do is realize that he was "Jacob," to understand the entire thing. "Jacob" means "supplanter," which is an old word that menas "unintentional imposter," which means that Jesus really thought he was the "messiah," but wasn't. And he surely wasn't "God," because "God" is not a man who lives or ever lived on Earth.
Regards,
Chris

I suspect you do not understand the Holy Ghost theology? To receive the father you must accept Jesus and harbour the Holy Ghost within you. And prayer and acceptance of the Trinity is the key to that success.

I spent some time reviewing all the comments about your questions, and a couple were quite long, but very truthful. My daughter when she was 18, was strung out on Drugs, and she asked me about my belief in life. I told her that one day, she will be troubled about where she has been, where she is going now, and what to expect later. She called me unsavory names, but it came back many years later to haunt her. I told her when no-one is around, and you are all alone in the bath-room, really look inside yourself and see what you really are. Today, she is a mother of two boys who serve in Iraq with dignity, and she is a Police Officer of excellent standing. God Bless !!

Was (not is) Jesus dead? Yes, he was dead about 39 hours assuming sundown 6:00 PM, sunrise about 6:00AM. His sacrifice; his earthly life (as we presently know it).

His body was a vessel, he went back to the Father (unless I misinterpreted everything again) or something to that extent. Pray to him because Christians believe he is the way to Heaven and that he died for our sins, which is what he sacrificed.

Jesus died in the flesh not Spiritually. We pray to him because no one can get to God except through the Son.

He was "dead" for 3 days. And if hell is like New Jersey then 3 days is more like years.
(Try not to think about what a "day" would mean to an eternal being tho...!)

Yes, he's dead. You didn't know?
Even church people recognize he's dead. They pray to him cause, who else is there to pray to? Mary? George Bush?
What did he sacrifice? He sacrificed his time and energy, and humans are just as stupid as they ever were. Before he died Jesus sighed and said "What a waste of time." That's what "Ely-lama sabacthani" means.
Read your Bible.
