The Catholic church believes that the priest actually turns the wine into the blood of christ. I'm not talking literally, but think of the psychological damage this does to children when they are told they are drinking the blood of another person! Symbolic or not, doesn't this sound a little pagan to you?

I KNOW that it's not really blood, but grapejuice or wine. I KNOW it's symbolic. But it's still a BLOOD drinking ceremony. Taken from the pagans and adapted by catholics and christians all over. The killing of a virgin was symbolic as well. Think about it! The slaughtering of a lamb was symbolic.

Do any of you also slaughter lambs or cows in sacrifice to your God?

How about virgins over Volcanoes?

At the Last Supper, Jesus said, “Take this bread. It is my body.” Then he said, “Take this and drink. This is my blood. Do this in memory of me.”

Catholics believe this was the First Eucharist, that through a miracle the bread and wine actually became the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Catholics reenact the Last Supper during every Mass, where God, acting through the priest, changes the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

This is a great sacrament of thanksgiving and unity of Catholics.

Jesus Christ (the Lamb of God) was the last and perfect sacrifice to our God.

Sorry, no volcanoes, but the virtue of chastity and the Blessed Virgin Mary are both highly respected.

With love in Christ.

Actually, you clearly don't understand very much about this. First of all, catholics believe it IS real blood. Secondly, they do not believe that the priest turns wine into blood, but that God does. Thirdly, you could call this an adaptation of pagan ritual all you like, but that does not escape the facts that: 1) the first Christians were Jews, not pagans, and they had 2 millennia of animal sacrifice in their history; 2) Pagans believe they are making sacrifices to the Gods, while Christians believe God has made a sacrifice for us. Huge difference.

I haven't heard of any catholic (or orthodox) children being psychologically damaged by this act. But if you don't like it, you are of course free to avoid it. Free will is a wonderful thing.

There is the doctrine of transubstantiation which teaches the bread and the wine is turned into the body and blood of Christ when blessed by the Priest. Then there is the doctrine of consubstantiation which teaches that the body and blood of Christ joint with the bread and wine when blessed by the minister of the church. The bread remains bread and the wine remains wine. The body and the blood are present in some mystical form. Then there is a third belief which teaches the bread and wine remain ordinary bread and wine. But the communicant eats the bread and drinks the wine in rememberance of Christs death and ressurection. The participant by faith idetify's with Christ's body which was sarificed once for all and raised again. The wine signifying the blood shed once for all made the payment and cleansed away all sin imputed by faith of the believer. The communicant who properly discerns what Christ did for us, and what Christ gives us, his soul wll sorrow over sinful ways and his soul will become overwhelmed by Jesus love, not only because of what He has done, but for what He does for us. We receive the abundant life. eternal life now and and we are partaking of the ressurection power now! You might compare the bread and wine to a check. The check is on ordinary paper. You can take it to the bank and receive all the benefits by signing your name to it or say Oh it's just a piece of paper and toss it away. The sacrifice of Christ was not bloodless. Children should not receive communion until they truly understand the meaning. I have not seen children in our church upset by the celebration of communion in our church.

WE DO NOT !! Read what it really means.. " Wine " at the Last Supper "And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. ( Matthew 26:26 - 29 ) There are 3 Greek words for the English word " wine " that you need to know. The first word is gennema, which means " the pure, fresh squeezed juice of the grape which has no age and no fermentation." The second word is gleukos, which means old juice of the grape which has become very, very sweet in time. The third word is oinos, which, yes, means " that which man has added to grape juice for the purpose of fermenting the juice to produce an intoxicating drink." But oinos also means " very old juice of the grape which through time has added unto itself a natural fermentation, but the amount of fermentation is so small that it is virtually undectable. In other words, you could drink gallons of this kind of wine and never feel any effect! In this passage, Jesus's words " the fruit of the vine " was translated into one Greek word, the Greek word gennema. According to the original Greek translation, the " wine " used at the Last Supper was pure, fresh squeezed grape juice with no alcohol! So, the next time somebody declares; " What do you think they drank at the Last Supper , boy?! " You can reply; " Fresh squeezed grape juice! " Why do you think World churches use Welch's Grape Juice for Communion, not Boone's Farm?

Christianity IS a pagan religion. It has a Judaic core, but when it was instated as the official religion of the Roman Empire the Romans filled it with paganistic ritual and mythology.

My church serves goat blood for communion. The sacrifice of the goat must be performed by a virgin, but the virgin is not sacrificed herself.

Catholicism is its own brand of "Christianity". They worship statues, deny their priest to marry, and their leader resides in a multi million dollar mansion, with limos and private jets.

Your assault on religion is interesting to say the least. Do you favor hating everything that you do not like?
