A Christian is one who believes and follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. He does not pick and choose which of Jesus' commands he wishes to follow. He obeys them all. How then can Catholics claim to be Christian when they blatently disregard Jesus' command that his followers NOT be called by such religious titles as "father"?

Why are we here, and what is our purpose, if you care to voice your opinion...
Maybe identify your faith or what you believe, this is like a poll for the religious and spirituality (did I spell it right that time) section.

My niece's baptism is today. My family is Catholic but I do not consider myself so and haven't for many years. What is the protocol for people that are not of a particular religion attending the church? I am also a bit annoyed because my family is definitely not holy but wants to "keep up appearances," yet they seem angry with me for not being gung-ho about their hypocritical cermony.

When you think of the Crusades, the Salem Witch Trials, etc. do you feel ashamed that your fellow followers would resort to such evil tactics to force their beliefs on others or do you feel like justice was served and that's just what had to be done?

What does a married Amish man do with his beard once his spouse dies?
What does a married Amish man do with his beard once his spouse dies?
I know that the Amish begin growing a beard once they get married. That's how you're supposed to tell how long he's been married, but what does he do with it once his spouse dies? Since they're allowed to remarry once becoming a widower, wouldn't he shave it to coincide with the new marriage? If he decides not to remarry, would he just keep his beard the same length as when she died? I've been looking all over the internet, and I can't find anything about it.

There is a section in the bible that says People shall work 6 years, but on the 7th they shall rest? This is a rule put forth by Moses, and was to be implimented after the promised land was reached.

So why is this little gem not followed, anywhere in the world?

Now before the christians start saying "well it's in the old testement" you do realize the things about adultery, anti gay, sabbath and so on are also of the old testement. Christ never spoke of any of these things when he was on this earth.
