Mormons believe strongly that there is a divine purpose for traditional families headed by a husband and wife. This is because of our belief that God is a married couple and that we are their children. In Mormon theology, we are trying to become like God in this life, hence we are to be married and if possible have kids. This belief does not leave much room for homosexuality in practice. While we try to be understanding and considerate of people's various situations in this life (including homosexual tendencies), we believe that within the church we need to be striving to live like God and that means eventually getting married to some of the opposite gender. Anything that does not bring us closer to becoming like God is a sin and is to be struggled against regardless of our personal inclinations.
It is difficult challenge in the church and I can sympathize with those who struggle within it because of this issue. Most Mormons, I would say, try to be as compassionate as possible without compromising their theology and shun nasty rhetoric and behavior against those that consider themselves to be homosexual or to have those tendencies.

Ok, look at it this way. I'm a guy and I like girls. I'm good as long as I don't go out and fornicate. To like them is not a sin. Being a homosexual isn't a sin, but acting on those feelings is. Of course I'm sure it's hard because for me I can go eventually get married, but for homosexuales they won't reach the point where it's ok to get married. It's a trial that they have in their life. I've known homosexuales who have worked with the trial and have married women and had families. It's hard for them, but they are happy because they are doing what is right. So in short, having those feelings isn't a sin, but acting on them is.
Cheshire Cat, don't talk about things you don't know about. It just makes you sound stupid.

Much of my family is mormon (and I used to attend the church years ago) and from what I understand, they view homosexuality as a sin. As a matter of fact, I believe being gay is grounds to get yourself kicked out of their church.
Yet another reason I don't participate in religions anymore.

There has always been a distinction between men having sex with men and women having sex with women.
Men having sex with men has always been an abomination against God demanding of the death of the violators (Lev 20:13 et al).
Biblical comments about women having sex with women has been limited to them engaging in unnatural acts.
I didn't write the Bible, I am merely educating you about it's contents.

see,God has created some paticular and definite system
for production and reproduction.Male and female in every
kind of souls.Time may differ for maturity for production.
But it's naturally set. When they are matured each male &
female are longing for mating.and during their mating they
are most happy.Male and female mating is natural.Where as homo sex is unnatural and undesired. The satisfaction
you enjoy by mating your oppsite sex partner, you will
never enjoy with your same sex partner. If you do so it is
not natural and it is against the law of nature. We should
abide by natural laws.

Well we believe in the Bible like other Christians, and do believe that is a sin. We do not believe in judging others, so we would never go around telling anyone they are going to hell, only God will judge us. Only he knows what's in our hearts.

Apparently some of them think that it's ok to crucify a gay boy just outside of Laramie, WY. I guess that means if someone is gay it's ok to murder them?
