To glorify the Lord through love for God is Love.

Deuteronomy 6
4Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Agnostic: if you look at the world as a whole, it would seem we have no purpose. This is becuase we are just one person in a world of billions. But on a smaller community scale, your purpose depends on who you are, and what you do. My purpose is to make sure that my mother is taken care of and that she knows she is loved. Community wise, as a nurse, I am here to help heal the sick or injured. We all have a purpose, its just not some pre-destined crap that the tv/movies try to portray. Our purpose may not be grand, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one. Everybody has a purpose when it come to the little things in life.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be careful.
Strive to be happy.

Life's meaning is not pre-determined and planned out. You must find your own destiny and meaning; you must create it. You have something -- life, the here-now, the present -- and must make the best out of it. You must answer why you are here.

In my opinion, I feel that the goal of life is simple. It is to thrive, be happy, and live an honorable life. None of us had a "choice" in whether or not we were born, but now that we are alive we have the power to either enjoy it or end it. If you find yourself in a situation, you should strive to make the best of it and accomplish something with your life. Increase your happiness. Have fun with things. If you're going to be alive anyways, you might as well have a good time while you're at it and you might as well leave a good name for yourself too.

To fulfill the will of God.
He gave us free will to make our own choices ; if we choose the way of God we fulfill His will as He has planned a particular task for each and everyone of us to make this world a better place for each other.
we are vessels through which work is done now the choice remains with us; whether we want to work for God for a better future or for Evil for a worst time.
to find out our purpose in life we have to make a choice.
I believe in Jesus Christ ,the Living God.
GOD BLESS.

Christian to the End!!! I believe that I am here on earth, to be the very best, God intended me to be!! And to raise my children up in the Lord, and to become an "Evangelist" when my children are raised... I want to go our on the fields and help feed the "Hungry Children" one day..... I already tithe my 10% to "Feed The Children in America" first, then when we get that under control, I'll work on other countries. Until we take care of our own, first, then I feel that we can go and help other countries, you know. Otherwise, I know all of us Christian's are suppose to spread the "Gospel" around, so that everyone hears and knows that Jesus died for them......Until Jesus comes to call His church!! Until then, I'll remain a "Firm Believer" and stay as close to Him as I possibly know how too!! God Bless you for asking!!! Smile!!!

My purpose is to provide for my family and loved ones the best I can and to leave a better future for my descendants. There is no purpose for humanity. It will be erase from the universe eventually leaving not a trace that it ever existed.

Muslim here.

My religion taught us that we're here as a test for the afterlife, sort of a crash course to see how we fair and where we'll go soon after.

Personally, I believe that as a species our purpose is to seek knowledge and find out how God originated creation, why we are here, and constantly progress towards the future.

When you say "what...we are here for" I assume you mean on the planet, not on yahoo answers.

I believe we are here as a result of chemical processes and the choices and actions of others.

As animals, it is not invalid to say we are here to pass on our genetic material, but by that I do not mean having children but basic genetic selection, which includes having a culture which allows the children of people who are genetically similar to you to pass their genes on if you don't, yourself, have kids.

I do not believe that all humans are built to do a certain thing. I think that GREAT humans live their lives to accomplish goals, but I think that there is no goal based on the fact that we exist.

Existance, itself, is not a reason for "why we are here" even if we determine that we desire to do something BECAUSE we are here.

My faith is Wiccan, specifically UEW.

Agnostic Jew....

In the grand scheme of things? Most of us aren't here to do anything. I get my happiness and love from the little things.....a good conversation...time with my family....watching a football game....drinking a beer....listening to a great song.....

The other stuff is just the crap you have to do to be able to do those things.

Most of us won't do much of consequence for any group of meaningful size. We'll be remembered by our children.....maybe our grandchildren....and that's it.

A few people will do things important enough, or create art great enough, to be remembered. For the rest of us.....we're here to make our own meaning and find our own path.

For me that path is about the little things. I care about the big issues today...but I'm pretty small. I can vote....I can work on political campaigns....I can write letters to the editor....etc.....but for the most part....we don't matter. I'm ok with that. I'm ok with mattering to about 50 other people, and to myself.
