O Christians which religions is acceptabe to god according to your scriptures? Which version/edition/form/norm of bible speaks about this?

Many modern, liberal Christians seem to choose not to believe in God as a judging God. They seem to choose not to believe in the concept of hell as an an eternal resting place for people who do not end up being saved.

Why do you think this is?

Often it seems that thier main argument is that God is so good and compassionate that He could never permenently separate himself from one of His children. And He would never codemn someone to suffering forever, because He loves us so much.

This argument is somewhat logical, isn't it?

So what would you say to someone who espouses this idea? What would you say to good Christians who say there is no Hell, so Satan, no author of evil?

One night, I was out for a walk when I looked up and saw the brightest star in the sky. I thought, "Why not make a wish?" so I did. Then I tripped. So when I got up, I looked up again, and the star wasn't there anymore. I asked my friend this question, and he said that the star left to send God the message. I didn't believe her on the spot. But then when I got home, I started thinking about it. Hmm...

I was raised a Christian and blindly followed it like you wouldn't believe for my first 18 years. I even told my friends at school all about it when I was in the 4th/5th grades (in that age range). I actually read the Bible quite a bit and got to know some of it really well (including some of the books nobody reads, like those prophecy books at the end of the OT). Anyway, I went to college and with nobody patronising me any more, I began to have a more critical opinion of the Bible and began to do some research about the Bible and I began to feel something was amiss. Ultimately, I was convinced that at least some of the Bible was fabrication (I still think some of it was true, not necessarily for the explainations provided however). Anyway, I'm being told I never was a Christian. How can that be true? It doesn't make sense to me at all.

I am serious about this and just want to learn more about religion in general especially one that is so old and seemingly so secretive. I know MANY important figures in history were involved so it can't be all that bad. Or is it? Tell me more my online friends!!

I've noticed that there are two sides of every story, but check this out; That means there's also a right and wrong (or truth and lie.) Now both sides have people to back their claims. And should one try to refute ones knowledge, the other is quick to rebuttle. My question is, do both sides actually hear each other during this debates. I know the difference between war of words and a natural conversation of topics, but when both sides choose the war, are they learning anything from each other?

I am curious.
God seems so unfathomable. I think--can he/she/it be God?
Can I be God?
I have no idea (I don't think I'm God--but it seems just as likely as anything else.)
I see these people, they think this white reindeer is God.
I think, possible.
I only want to know what God is.
How do you know? Is God something distant? Invisible?
If something exists, it must have mass, it must have some form, it seems.
What form is God?
Without a form, I don't know what to believe.
If I should believe.
It is ridiculous.
I am sitting here. This chair could be God for all I know.
How do you define God? If you were in God's presence, how would you know it was God?
I am just really confused.
About a lot of things.

I'm posing this question in the light of Valentine's Day celebrations.

Isn't it weird that a religion that permits polygamy to the hilt denounces the 'harmless' activities of young lovebirds?!?!

In other words, two lovebirds chilling out in a cafe or at a park is considered a taboo in Islam, but a Muslim having four(or even more) wives is socially acceptable, huh?!?!

I just moved to a totally new part of the country and I feel like I'm having trouble adapting to this new place. I moved from Ohio to Colorado. The altitude is much higher here and it just feels like there is more sky. Are there any practices I could use to feel 'at home' quicker? Should I work on cultivating relationships with the local nature beings, or wights? Who can give me some advice on this? Am I being impatient?

What makes you mortal?
Do you accept, by dint of time's persistence that you too will "die" -- whatever this means?

Observation of those who are born, who sleep and wake, who die is consistent with a world we also dream-- a world possibly to escape another one, where discontinuity and boundlessness reigns. The preference for one over the other, that regularity is identical to reality, cannot be justified.

Are you afraid of limits or the lack of them? (or none...)
In what way are you mortal, in what way a god?

If jesus was god why would he cry out for god ALLAH.

Quotes of when jesus was being crucified according to the bible:

Mark 15:34
And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: ELOI, ELOI, lamma sabacthani? Which is, being interpreted: My God, My God, Why hast thou forsaken me?

http://www.newadvent.org/bible/mar015.htm

mathew 27:46.
And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying: ELI, ELI, lamma sabacthani? That is, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?

http://www.newadvent.org/bible/mat027.htm

Look at the word ELOI and the ELI they look very similar.

If they are said out loud they sound like the word ALLAH, very similar. it sure doesn't sound like jahovah or god to me.

I am so sick of hearing all of these completely random answeres people give to those who want to know about a church. a CHRISTAIN church. If you were ever smart enough to read the name of " that un christian " church you would know that we are members of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints.

We are not some weird cult like so many stupid ignorant people say we are. You really want to find out for yourself what we are about?

Try going to our church. Or reading the Book Of Mormon. I promise you you will find out that.....we take the bread and water, we read the bible, we love God, and we want to live with him again.

If you really have a question about us, ask US. Not someone else, because they dont know what the heck they are talking about.

I promise you that if you are a true, faithful, follower of Christ than you will find your way to the light.

And if you really want to know something, ask me. I will be glade to clarify with you ALL of your questions.

My mother recently passed away. At her death bed, my sister had asked for her forgiveness, and to show her a sign that she has been set free and lifted of the burden she has carried for a long time. Two days later, a big white heron mysteriously appeared on the rooftop of the neighbor's house across from theirs. This kind of bird had never been seen in this part of town before, but sat there quietly for a good 20 minutes. Was this the sign that she had asked for? Was this my mother's spirit visiting?

I am a young unwed mother, and my entire life my own mother spoke to me of the evils of the catholic church. However, my boyfriend of almost 2 years is catholic, and I love the values him and his family share. And I want to give my child(ren) the solid foundation of faith that I never had. And I sure could've used it during my seriously messed up childhood! But it is a big step.

I believe in God.
I believe in prayer.
But can I truly become whole-heartedly catholic?? I want to...but I'm scared.

Has anyone else done it? Was it hard leaving old beliefs behind? Also, my mother doesn't approve, so I would only have my boyfriend's catholic family as my support system...would you do it in my shoes???
