Reading, reading, reading the Word. Purposing in our hearts to be a doer of His word and not a hearer only. Praying to God to have that be so.
You are absolutely right; in my flesh there is no good thing. Every single day I need to pray to God to keep my feet on a righteous path.

Try to lead an ethical living. Pray and meditate on Him regularly. Every time, you want to take a decision, listen to your inner voice. A clear heart will certainly throw up a solution to a problem, which will invariably be the guidance of the God. If there is some thing which is contrary to the will of God, you will have some thing that tries to impede you from doing that action. Take the cue.

This is a wonderful question. And yes, what we "want" is frequently at across purposes with truth and love. It is only through the development of a prayerful life that we can begin to know what God wants of us. Many saints (Therese, John of the Cross, Francis) have helpfully written on how this can be achieved through prayer. We can also make all of the ordinariness of our lives serve God.
I can say more if you are interested.

Urges, be they from God or even just normal human behavior is kind of straight forward and I'd guess you know right from wrong.
Desires, is completely normal and again I know you've met disappointment; but still moving on. I feel God want's us to desire because He gets a kick out of meeting our "NEEDS", which just may be a answered prayer/desire.
Keep the chin in the wind.

To know some one you must spend time with them. When you know a friend or spouse well you know what they like and don't like. And so it is with God. Spend time with Him each day, by meditation, or reading the bible, or singing the Psalms, etc. Then listen to the deep part of your being, the place where God and you are one. You will know that you are following God's will when you have a deep sense of peace.

Yes this is our purpose on life. To our will to be interlaced and completely harmonous with God's will.
I just had a sermon that talked about the problem with Our Will vs. God's Will. This struggle is called Temptation.

Will is last desire. There is no will of god. God has not send his will to anyone. He allowed all to do / peform in any way without manuel. Anyone can kill anyone. No interference by god. Use your brain and do good. If you do good, you will get ***** from God. O god, thank you for lovely world with bad wives.

We tune to the will of God by loving all humans, being kind and doing unto all humans as we would want them to do unto us. There is no point being theoretical and following the will of a god, whose influence is minimum in this world, let us follow the way of loving all humans, let us love and serve our brothers, thereby we serve god. Let us really sacrifice our lives for our fellow humans, thereby we exceed god's expectations. Let us end the mad wars, distrust of our neighbours, nuclear wars etc. Let us follow the path of peace and love of all humans irrespective of caste, creed, race, color etc. I am sure we shall exceed god's expectation and his will.

That's why we have the Word of God to keep us on track. The Word and the Holy Spirit will witness to our hearts about what is God's will for us.

The tune is within, we really haven't lost it we have only covered it over. Be still. Be here now. Abandon all hope. Do this until you "know" for yourself the eternal tune.
