Why do some (most) people answer questions about Jesus by quoting Paul, or Peter, or other authors in the Bible? (Are they afraid to quote Jesus' words.)

Why not Just quote Jesus' words to answer a question about;

1.who he is, or
2.what he wants us to do, or
3. How we can get to Heaven.

(I haven't counted them, but I would guess there are about 100 verses in the Bible that give exact quotes from Jesus himself.)

A few months ago my best friend's 19-year-old little sister found out she was pregnant but knew she couldn't afford a baby if she wanted to. The only clinic they could find that she could afford to get an abortion was in Augusta (we live in Georgia) and that was a two and a half hour ride. About a week before their trip, the original driver broke her leg and couldn't make the trip for them. My friend came to me and asked if I would make the trip since she and her sister are horrible at directions and needed a driver. I begged her to pick someone else but she kept making excuses for the people who would have been willing to drive. I ended up giving even though I'm completely against abortion (except for the obvious reasons, like damage to the mother or child's health. That's why there's adoption) and driving all the way to Augusta. We were there for five hours and during our stay, Catholic protestors showed up praying which scared me to death. Can God punish me for driving them?

Or am I wrong? Is it just second nature for most Americans to talk about God?

(Note: No offence meant to Christians. It's just that sometimes - man, you can't help but wonder if it is real or not real!)

If there is no afterlife to look forward to whether a heaven or hell, then what is the meaning of life? Why are we here?

In 2 Peter 3 God speaks of the flood of Noah's day (only 8 people out of th whole world are saved), and then speaks of the day of the LORD (heavens and earth being consumed with fire) or Judgment Day. This verse separates those 2 events: "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." Remember, the flood occurred in 4990 B.C.

to a Yahoo group that they find provides a connection to their local community. You know - Local Area Pagan and Witches group.

You can name the group, or you can discuss how your local group fill a need for the average pagan to connect with others of like minds, or provide communication on current events in their locality.

You can also mention how your local group does NOT allow you to connect. Yahoo groups are not all good.

If you know a good group, sing out. Got a lemon? Let us know!

Could this be laziness attributed to its downfall as it perpetuate a physical form and force itself to think its own purpose? Could this be the reason why a soul is necessary inorder for the spirit to discover the truth of its existence? My question has similarity to the story of what transpired to the Garden of Eden. Your thought please?

Christians claim that Jesus saved them by his death on the cross... but actually the one who died is the human side of Jesus not the God side (God doesn't die)... So you believe that you are saved by a man... while bible states that there is no savior beside God.

What if a former Atheist is trying to learn and understand Christianity and then he dies "before he figures it out"?

Does he get damned to hell for this failure?

Do you think God will say: "Well...you were on the right path, so close, but not close enough. Get lost, Buh-bye!" ?

If yes, what can this seeker do to avoid going insane while still alive now that he knows your answer? That sounds like the ultimate frustration.

I've noticed lately that alot of people who call themselves Atheists are only Atheists because they despise and distrust organized religion and faith. Some even judge hatefully and condescend towards the people who have faith.

That doesn't seem like the real thing though. It seems that true Atheism is simply a worldview that simply does not involve a mythological God (i.e. a mythological God in the true literary sense of mythology). There is nothing wrong with spirituality and commitment to a higher natural order now is there? I'm thinking of Buddhism and the sort.

Am I right or no?

I've just seen a lot of questions about homosexualty, evolution, ste-cell research, Wicca, magic, etc and so many ppl are saying this person is going to Hell and saying he/she's a bad person and using God to justify it.
I don't get it. Everyone can believe in what they want and do what they want. It's not ur place to judge so why do many do it, thinking they have the right to harass?

If I pick apples from a tree to make a pie but one of those apples is rotten, do I burn down the tree?

This question is in response to the question that often comes up of why God would create life only to send it to Hell if they don't believe in God.

People use parent examples. But God didn't have sex to conceive me.God didn't go into labor to give birth to me.God didn't raise me.God didn't send me to college.God didn't do anything for me.People might say that he gave me life. But then those people must not have been taught about the birds and the bees.

God is not a parent. He exists in the minds of those who believe and on paper printed in ink. There are many Gods and most believers claim that their God is the only true God.So the next time someone asks why God sends people to Hell, use a better example like the one I used about making a pie.Agreed?

One time me and my team were playing soccer, we are a great girls team all aged 19-20. Anyway, We were losing one game 1-0 and it was quite late in the game, I ran down the side and scored a great goal! Then just a couple of minutes later I scored again, just before full time. It was great! My team mates all gathered around me and lifted me up high, then one of my 'friends' shouted "let's strip her" and they did! THey pulled off my shorts and underwear, then my shirt and bra! So I was totally naked being carried around in front of loads of people! They carried me off around the park then tied my hands and left me ages away from the locker room! I had to run all the way back in the nude and guess what? They had gathered a huge crowd of our MALE friends who all took pictures and laughed.
