I don't believe in God or redemption, but from my perspective, there are some things that are so heinous that they can never be forgiven. I am actually opposed to the death penalty in almost every case....but treason has to be punishable by death. The effective scope of treason is so vast....it effects so many....that execution is the only viable option.

I also believe in a new classification of crimes called economic sedition. For people like Kenneth Lay, who effectively bankrupted THOUSANDS of Americans, while giving himself and his own family every advantage for the next 10 generations, I think execution is a fair response. Again...the scope of who he has effected far outstrips murder. A murder effects the victim, the families, to a lesser extent the community.....treason and what I'd like to call economic sedition.....effect everyone.

No. God's mercy is shown forth time and time again- if that person who is executed for a crime, has a chance to accept Christ prior to his execution. I have heard a story of a woman who was given the electric chair, but has experienced the mercy of God. Before she was put to death for the crime she stated, "I deserve the death penalty and it is justice that I get the death penalty but I know that I am saved and have experienced the grace and mercy of God , through Christ, even though I do not deserve it." Actually every one of us has been given the death penalty and we deserve that, but God has given his son so that we can experience life, even after death.

There are some criminals that are beyond redemption, some whose crimes are so violent that keeping them alive would be a crime, and finally those that have no repentance for their crime and will continue to commit more crimes if kept alive.

God knows the beginning to the end, of everything. He would of made provisons to reveal Himself to that person before their death. Whether that person chose God or not will be revealed to us on Judgement Day!
The Bible clearly teaches that every action has a consequence, and it teaches us how to make the correct choices!
