enforcement of the regulations regarding the non-profit status of churches that are politically active?

This isn't a religion vs. government issue, or even a freedom of speech issue. It's an issue of whether they lied on their application for non-profit status. In order to obtain it, they had to agree to the terms set by the IRS. If they did, fully intending to violate that agreement, than the issue in perjury. As representatives of Christ, they lied. Not a proud moment for Christ.

To me, air is better suited to the wand, and it drives me crazy that most tarot decks have it reversed. I head that it was originally the athame, and then one of the original tarot artists switched them so as not to give away too much information from the Golden Dawn. Is this a true story?

Did Jesus also help perpetuate this deceptions by leading his people to believe he died? Is Jesus and Allah so evil? Did Muhmmad tell thaem how wrong this was? What happened to the Gospel Allah gave to Jesus? The Gospel that was around at the time Allah sent the Qu'ran was written after Jesus ...So why didn't Allah tell people that this was a wrong copy but he called it Guidence and Light was this a lie too? Say to the people of the book we agree with the revealtion handed down to you....didnt he know what people were studying? Was he sill in agreement? Isnt Allah all knowing didnt he know if he led people to think Jesus was killed they would have known it to be the prophesy of Isiah 53....or did Allah not know about that prophesy?

Then what about these normal down to earth rules which are sane and normal which you follow because these rules came from the bible and God? You will not kill. You will not steal. You will not accuse your brother falsely. You will not cheat on your spouse. etc............... You cannot have your cake and eat it too. You cannot have a double standard and allow the other rules to just disapear.

If God made Adam perfect, did he make Eve perfect as well?

ALSO.. if we were originally flawless, but fell out of grace, wouldn't there be a way to reverse it? They say no one is perfect, even no matter how hard we try. In those terms I don't think that's fair to the generations following Adam. We're just deserving the sins of our fathers.

Many wonder how a 14 year old virgin girl could get pregnant without having sex, Well its quite easy, drug them then using a pipette and a steady hand, you can insert the tube containing sperm, without breaking the hymen, and hey presto immaculate conception.
If we have the ability to do this, then shouldn’t it be so much easier for God.
After all the Bible keeps referring to Jesus as a man, the word made flesh etc.. Every thing in the bible is leads us to believe he was genetically a real human being and not half alien..
But whose sperm did God use

"The Christian god can easily be pictured as virtually the same god as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster; cruel, vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging, three headed beast-like god, one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes: fools and hypocrites."

Any guesses?

Please help me find a church (preferably in West L.A.) that is vibrant, thriving, and spirit-filled...but NOT ultra-conservative (i.e., no churches that are homophobic or that don't allow women to be leaders). Looking for that happy middle ground between scary uber-rightwing fundamentalists and wishy-washy, anemic ultra-liberal pastors. I want passion and conviction combined with progressive theology!

Moved out here a year+ ago and am missing my old church in South Boston. It was perfect--urban and a little scrappy, ethnically and economically diverse, with a charismatic pastor who could really preach and a real spirit of family and community among the congregation. And the music was outstanding--some traditional hymns but also a good dose of gospel songs and spirituals--the whole congregation was on its feet clapping along at least once during every service.

Anyone know of anything similar in L.A.? (Again: no fundamentalists, no "praise" music--can't stand that sappy stuff.)

I've asked this question before... is the display of religious ignorance, bigotry, intolerance, and arrogance an accurate representation of religious belief in the US?

I've been looking around at answers to questions lately, and there seem to be a lot of anti-gay, anti-atheist, and anti-evolution Christians roaming around these parts. The complete lack of rational, humane people on this site pretty much frightens me.

Christians talk about this country being on a moral decline because of gays being accepted into society.
I honestly think it's the other way around. This country is on a moral decline because Christians are getting more publicity.

My faith in humanity wanes.

What do you think?

"Jesus had many philosophies-name at least 3 of them."

As if supporting my friends and family (those remaining who were not murdered) and making the right life decisions wasn't hard enough, now I have to choose Jesus. More specifically, I have to choose Jesus out of all the other faiths.

For people who have been raised Christian or for people who have the right type of genetics, blind faith is a fairly simple task. For others, like me, it is nearly impossible. I would really like to believe in this Jesus guy but unfortunately the tellers of his story did not make a perfect story. No matter how much I would like to believe that the story (the Bible) is perfect, its errors, apparent falsehoods, and just plain lack of straightforwardness just keep getting to me.

The Bible says: "seek and you will find". Problem is, my friend had the same problem as me and he died before he believed in Jesus. Did his failure send him to hell? The same could happen to me and I'd be faced with this "thing" that cannot be tested by science.

What now?

Why should one philosphy be allowed to be control or exert any more influence than any other? Why should one we settle for one dogmatic point of view to replace another?

Cows, chickens, pigs, we murder them at an alarming rate everyday, because "god" made us omnivores and we need to eat meat. So we have to murder every single day just to live. Isn't this a no-win situation? Is god setting us up so we all go to hell, because we are all murderers? Or is god just fiction and this is another silly argument?
