Jer 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
Jer 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.
Jer 10:5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Not Christmas trees but trees of worship.
Why not Christmas trees? A lot of Christians say we don’t use the old testament but that is a cop out Jesus did just like Christians eat pork and Jesus said I have not come to change the law and did not eat pork let me just say I am not attacking Christians just trying to learn. I am only 14. Seek and you will find ask and it will be given to you.

I was just flipping through channels on television and I saw the ad for a man named Rod Parsley. He was talking about his program called Jubilee Covenant, about how 2007 will bring miracles in all aspects of your life if you join his "Covenant." He went on and on about how much success would come to you this year and how 2007 is the "Year of Jubilee" as supposedly mentioned in the Bible.
However, after he finished blabbering about all that somewhat uplifting information, he cut directly to the chase which was that you have to pay $50 or more to join his "Covenant."
I believe that if he really wanted to help people and bring joy to their lives he would do it for free.
How do Christians feel about this? Because he certainly has left a bad impression in me.

Also, since I am an Atheist, my soul will burn in the lake of fire. Did God choose this for me, so that my soul would burn in the lake of fire, and if so, will it make a smell pleasing to the lord your God when my soul does burn?

Does God enjoy the aroma of burning souls, and is that why he created so many Atheists and Agnostics and other people who don't believe that Jesus is their savior but believe in a different version of God?

Which smell is more pleasing to the Lord your God - an Atheists, an Agnostics, a Muslim's, a Hindus?

How about those who worshipped Zeus and Jupiter, will their soul burning make a scent as pleasing to the Lord your God as mine?

why keep the old testament in the bible? It makes christianity seem barbaric to many non-christians. All that slavery and stoning puts many people off that might otherwise look more closely atr your beliefs.

Plastic saves lives. If God knew about plastic why didn't he put plastic in mines so we could dig it out and use it instead of having to invent it?

Christians, what is your honest attitude toward atheists?

a. I don't mind them; they have some valid points. Most seem to be nice people, they just have different beliefs.

b. They're misguided and I pray for them, but as people they're okay. I'm sure their moms love them and they're nice to their cats.

c. Smarmy, arrogant know-it-alls. Can't stand them. I'll be laughing my behind off while they're roasting in hell.

Fell free to elaborate or add your own write-in choice.

I came across this scripture verse John 4:23 24. Jesus states," Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will will worship the Father in Spirit and Truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is spirit and his worshippers must worship in spirit and truth. What really caught my eyes is the part that the Father is seeking people to worship Him. To worship, to love and have reverance for Him. Are you one that He is seeking? What does Spirit and Truth mean to you?

It also says you should seclude women when their on their period, and that you can sell your daughter into slavery? How can you guys interpret the bible as literal if it says things like that?

I am concerned because in my friends daughters public school lunch program, items containing pork have to be identified. Also, during Ramadan, No pork products are served. Did I misunderstand? You can't pray in school, but your diet is monitored and controlled by Allah? I can understand listing foods such as peanuts for medical reasons, but not foods for religious reasons. Does this happen elsewhere, or just in Chicago district schools? Does anyone find this disturbing?

"Are you Moses?" asked George. The man just stared off in another direction.
"Are you Moses?" George inquired again. But the man continued to look elsewhere.
Intrigued, George more forcefully demanded, "Are you Moses!?" At that the man reluctantly replied "Yes."
"Why did you not answer me before?" said George.
"Well," replied Moses, "the last time I spoke with a bush I had to spend 40 years in the wilderness!"

(No offense, just thought this one was worth sharing, no?)

This is how Christians defend god in the story of Job. I’m just checking to see if this is a valid defense.

this verse indicate that we were in different creation or something, and God has gathered us and made us testify that he is our God. and we had testify that He is.

[172] And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam's loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this."
Quran 7:172

i believe that's the reason for why every human want a religion to believe in, because God already introudce himself to us in the unknown world. it's all coded inside our heart. when someone tells us that our God is only one, we know it's the truth as like something inside us tell us it's true.

I was wondering if a Christian could explain to me the moral of this story?

Job was a hard working, honest, God loving man who praised Gods name constantly.

Then the Devil says 'He only praises you cos your so good to him'

So God, to prove a point to the Devil destroys Job's business and kills his family and then plagues Job with boils...

yet still job praises God 'The lord giveth and the lord taketh away'

so god proves his point... and then what?...

Did Job spend the rest of his days without his family and with boils praising God because the bible swiftly moves on

and what kind of point is there to that story? God will do a number on you just to make a point to the Devil?

I think that makes God a bit of a b*stard really....
