I think it's not a place tool to use, some of the parables and stories do make good points. When it's taken as a source of information to use as education in a light manner, like perhaps read alongside Dr Suess, it does contain some very good tales to help kids along with helping others.

However, when it is taken too seriously, when kids are taught to 'believe in it or else', I feel then it is a very dangerous and unhealthy tool. When people start preaching it's the actual word never to be questioned, it gets creepy, and kids begin to unravel and miss the educational points that it contains. Instead of learning from it in a healthy way, they instead develop an unhealthy obsession to preach it to others through fear and guilt trips.

Unhealthy:

"Believe in it or go to hell"..."You're wrong, you need to repent for this book is the truth!'...

Healthy:

"hey, the moral of this bible story was that doing so will result in bad things, its a good parable to learn from"

So you know how there were dinosaurs, and that they were pretty big, and ruled the Earth for longer than humans have so far, well why didn't God write about them in the Bible? Was he embarrassed about them, and hoped we wouldn't notice their fossilised remains? Or were they completely separate, and did he write them their own dinosaur Bible before killing them all off and creating his next plaything, us?

I'm talking both of them attempting to persuade the other back and forth to join their cause and religion. Each quoting scriptures, throwing out stories, and doing their best to 'win' over the other person?

Would one eventually convert the other, or would they eventually get furious at one another resulting in violence?

Do you know that he loves you, and only seeks to bless you with his Noodly Appendages? Do you know that he will annoint thine head with sauce, and call you to sit at the dinner table forevermore? (Do you know that if you deny him, you will be forced to diet? Do you know that the unbelievers will be forced to eat celery and carrots for all eternity?)

ok if that was the cause then why do you insist that God, Jesus and holyspirit are all one ? worshiping the trinity means that you worship God, Jesus and holyspirit.
if you already know that God is your only God, then why do you worship partner beside him? why do you insist in worshiping the trinity and u well aware that Jesus asked you to worship only the God who sent him? why?

New equality laws. Is the church crying what about our rights to abuse and discrimiante against gay folk.

Is that like kkk being made to be nice to black people.

http://u.tv/newsroom/indepth.asp?id=78960&pt=n

And the Nazis forced to treat jews equal.

Or how about the 60s when the american scum of the deep south were crying about having to let black people go to the same school as white folk.

or how about when they weren't allowed to rape, torture, multilate and burn at the stake new age wicca witches.

Funny how all these people the church want to abuse have no history or wars, oppression, mass murder like the church and islam.

As for unatural... You get gay sheep and it appears natures birth control.

Plus gays tend to be creative and make life good for others, entertainers and make women look sexy.

How was the first humans born? Evolution
How was the first organism born? It can't be from nothing, because nothing comes from nothing. If it just is, how is it that it just is?

Ok, here's my dilema. I am 20 years old. I live on my own, I pay my way for everything, very independent. I am also pretty conservative in my morals and beliefs. I was basptized Catholic, but am non practicing. Unfortunately, I do not have health insurance. I have irregular periods, and I needed to be on hormonal birth control to regualte my periods. I am VERY VERY against abortion, yet to get my birth control, I had to go to Planned Parenthood, because I don't have health insurance. I'm just wondering if I'm a hypocrite, a sinner, or a bad person for going there. I'm not using the pills as a birth control, it's to regulate my cycle. Also, I've tried gettting on Medi-Cal, but I make too much....even with all my expensies each month....Any insight would greatly be appreciated....

I mean, some people take obvious parables and allegories and interpret them into literal historical fact. They need to brushed up on logic, reality, and the real historical facts don't they?

Ok a few minutes ago I got a call from a credit card company on an autodialer offering me a credit card. Having dragged me out of a nice sleep I wasn't in the greatest of moods. The machine said that if I pushed 1 I would get to talk to an associate for further info. What do you know, but I got a real breathing human being on the other end. So I said to her, " I don't know how you f---ing a--holes you got my god ******* number but take me off your f---ing list right now. She said, "oh you shouldn't say that to me I'm a christian".
I told her I didn't give a sh-- about what superstition you believed in just take me off you f---ing list.
Why did she think that by telling me a that she's a christian would make any difference how I talked to her after intruding on my life?

We had a light snow on Sunday night which melted slowly throughout the day and what was left refroze last night.. There is now a thin layer of uneven ice in the backyard and the green grass is showing through in the sunlight.

It looks like a field of green snowcones.

At this point, the IRS can fine any church, synagogue, temple, or mosque that supports a particular political party or candidate.

If they paid taxes, they could do or say anything with impunity.

Should churches forego their tax exemption so they can become politically involved without risking legal consequences?

When a child learns about the identity of Santa Claus, that it is the child's parents that are giving the gifts, the child is instructed that now (s)he is part of the game and not to share this info with other children who still do believe.

Similarly, in the course of adulthood some adults learn the truth that there is no God, that God is an invention by early humans as a mechanism of control over other humans, and for control of wealth.

We were not told to "keep this a secret" from others who do believe in God, many of us share the information of the invention of the God concept.

Is the dialouge between Atheism and Theism, in which Atheists talk with Theists, similar to the big brother who informs the little brother that Santa isn't real, and that mommy and daddy are putting gifts under the tree,

and the younger brother or sister says "No thats not true, Santa is real, who else is eating the cookies and read the story Night before Christmas"?

Is this comparison valid?

Baptists, Methodists, Catholics, Lutherans, Scientology, Mormons, and anyone else I've forgotten. People say we're all accepted by the same God, we're all following the same Bible, yet I've only seen one church mentioned in the Bible, (Romans 16:16) and it's none of the ones mentioned above, or anything else that calls itself a church.

If you intend to answer this question, can you find any Biblical scripture for its authorization by Jesus, in the New Testament?

in view of the new legislation regarding The Equality Act which bans discrimination in the provision of goods, facilities and services on the basis of sexual orientation in a similar way to the rules on sex and race discrimination.

how will it work?
isn't it religious discrimination to legally force someone to act against there religious beliefs in the same way as it would be classed as racial disctrimination or sexual discrimination if someone was asked to do something against there life choice.
