Was Christianity in Ireland mentioned in the bible or did St Patrick come long after. Was there any mention of the Celts or missionaries? Basically when was the first mention of Christianity in Ireland?

Mention of Ireland in the Bible? The Bible tells the history of the people of Israel in the OT and in the NT we have the Gospels, that tell us what Jesus did. In the Epistles of Saint Paul there are mentions of some countries (Greece, Spain) but no mention of Ireland at all.
Christianity spread from the Mediterranean northwards into Gaul and it reached Ireland around the late 300s or early 400s.
The first recorded missionary to Ireland was Palladius, who was probably from Gaul [France]. He was sent by the Pope to be bishop to the "Irish who believe in Christ". Patrick himself stated that Palladius' mission was a failure. However, other historical documents from outside Ireland indicate that the mission of Palladius was very successful, at least in Laigin (Leinster), and that he set up a number of churches. . Tradition says that Palladius' visit to Ireland was in the year 431.

Any for more religious fairy tales; St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland.

This was relatively easy, since Ireland has not had any snakes for at least 3 million years, and, depending on land bridges, probably never had any snakes at all.

No mention at all. He came centuries later. The website below gives very good info about St. Patrick.

Have a nice day.

Ireland was unknown to the authors of the Bible, so there is no reference to it. They lived in the Middle East, and were unfamiliar with Ireland.

No mention at all. Many tales and legends dont mention it so no need to worry about that.

I really like it though. Nice place, nice people.
