He's done contless works for Africa, the AIDS epidemic, dropping third world debt and feeding those who are starving. He's rallied conservatives (including Jesse Helms... probably one of the biggest conservatives in history) and Christian organizations to stand behind his cause. I recently watched an interview with him and Bill Hybels, Senior Pastor of Willow Creek Community Church... one of the biggest and most influential churches in America... where he discussed the Biblical principals behind his charitable work.

Yet many people still criticize him and question his faith... citing his occasional bad language and the fact that he is in fact a rock star as the reasons on why he is not in fact a Christian.

What do you think? Is he in fact a Christian? If not, state me your reasons why and back it up Biblically if you so desire.

I'm interested only in serious responses... If you just want to post something petty and childish, move on to another post, please.

Agnostics often wrongly reprimand Atheists because they say God can neither be proved nor disproved.
There's a fundamental flaw in this argument. Like any question, the existence of God should be viewed as a "balance of evidence" question.
Since the balance of evidence is firmly in the Atheists favour (i.e nothing we know of can be reasonably attributed to god) then Atheism is the most logical belief.
Substitute the Tooth Fairy or Santa Clause for God and you will see why a balance of evidence is important. We cannot disprove their existence either.

I found this and decided to share. From The left-wing campaigner and veteran Methodist:

"There is nothing more dangerous than The Bible in the hands of a lunatic" -One of the late Lord Soper's regular responses to Bible-brandishing hecklers at Speakers' Corner

I thought it was pretty wild. But true..

are you telling me that my God came out by birth with blood all over him, screaming, crying, and want his mother arms to hold him?

are you telling me that my God was too weak that his mother was feeding him, help him to walk, dress him up and calm him down when he cries?

are you telling me that my God went to the bathroom? drink and eat?

are you telling me that God the most powerful, the God of the old testimony has been tortured by the people he creates and then got killed by them?

this is not my God. but the one who sent him is.

Does it warm God's heart when people drive like they have had a lobodomy?

Or when they have so many obnoxious bumper stickers praising the lord on their rear windshield they can't see behind them?

I'm just curious; these people almost kill me on the road everyday.

Why do Atheists keep asking for Theists to prove God?
Because, they can't scientifically, or logically. -

Why do Theists keep asking for Atheists to disprove God?
Because they can't physically, or scientifically. -

There are just questions in this world that can never be answered! These will go on until the end of time. They *have* been going on since *before* time! -

I suppose death is the only answer that can be *proven*...unfortunately, it will only be proof to the dead.

I was sitting on my bed one day and it was almost like I left this reality, but that would be wrong also, as I never went anywhere physically it was just in the mind. Anyway I was shown what looked like a river in the middle of no-thing. Then I was in the river. While in the river I had the most peaceful feeling, a feeling like everything was alright and there was nothing that could take that away, and a definate feeling that this is how it is when we are in our "right" minds. I felt so connected, so pure and so much love for EVERYTHING. I feel that this place is where my essence sits. Does anyone know about this or has anyone experienced this?

As a conventional rule, we r created by God, including Jesus. Then whats the point of considering Jesus himself a God? Do Christans believe that the world, the universe, plants, forests, mother-nature and everything has been created by Jesus.. when they know He was a reverent Jew man. When he wasn't born, who was taking care of the world? Do they have concepts of an 'actual' God?

Excuse my lack of knowledge, I would like to know the basics of your religion.

Many christians are in agreement with sermons against drinking, gambling, smoking, fornication, and other sins. However, will become silent or offended, when the sin of gluttony is discussed, and some, not all, will state: it's not as bad as other sins.

By earthly terms, gluttony(excessive overeating to the point of obesity and health problems) may not cause as many social problems as drinking too much, gambling addiction, etc. But in agreement with the Bible it IS a sin. This topic is especially avoided if the Pastor or person speaking God's Word is extremely obese. Why do you think many Christians avoid this topic?

Proverbs 23:20-21 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. Proverbs 28:7 He who keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father. Proverbs 23:2 put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony. Blessings, Miji

I've always seen Pontius Pilate as someone who tried to do the right thing, and who really wanted Christ to live, but due to his position - his job, and how unstable the peace with the Jews was at the time, he really couldn't do what he wanted to do. It seems to even be backed up by scripture when in Matthew it says that Pilate's wife told him of a dream that had been bothering her and that he shouldn't have anything to do with this man (Jesus). And after considerable thought, he washed his hands of the matter - indicating (to me at least) that he didn't want to do what he knew was about to be done, but wasn't able (spiritually) to put it all on the line and go against not only what the Jews wanted but also what Ceasar wanted.
It also seems to me that he/Pilate was put on Earth to do this very hard thing. God puts the right people in the right places to do the thing that needs doing. Maybe he was the only one, out of all the people who will ever live on earth to be able to do this.

I know you can answer any critical question without resorting to personal attacks, bad science, circular reasoning (Might be too big of a word for ya) and unneedingly quoting the bible on matters that simply can't be answered by the bible.

But will you? You say you have the truth, but let's see if you can defend your idea of the truth logically.

Hey, I'll even give you a simple critical question for you to answer.

Can you prove without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus was crucified on a pole and not on a cross?

I'm waiting for your response. Oh, by the way, I will not be answering any questions from Atchung_Heiss because he's already proven himself to be a blithering troll and it only wastes my time dealing with him.
