Because the burden of proof is on the person asserting existence.
I can claim that an invisible Santa Claus and magic gnomes are hiding under my back deck.
You can't disprove this.
Does this mean that my assertion must be accepted as true?

I don't have to prove He exists, because He can do that for Himself.
Would you say God is real if you had experienced Him in way you couldn't deny? Just because you can't see Him, doesn't mean you can't Know Him....and I'm not just talking about guessing, or supposing, or maybe He is or isn't. You want proof? The evidence of God is all around you. And if you knew Him in a personal relationship which He wants to have with you, you would KNOW without any doubts.
Here is one example .....How do you know that electricity exists?
Can you see it? Do you know where it comes from? How can you prove what you can't see? You have experienced the evidence of it, haven't you? You turn the switch and the light comes on....but did you see the electricity that made it work?
But you trust that it does, because you see the evidence that it exists. God says if you look at the evidence all around you and still don't believe, you have chosen not to. It doesn't mean that He isn't there. We trust in things all the time that we can't see.
We go up in an airplane, trusting it will fly. We trust the surgeon we don't know to operate....and we could go on and on. And anyone who wants to can ask God and He will show you. So if you really want to know if God is real, He says to search for Him with all your heart, and He will prove it to you. Care to try it out? His evidence will convince you...It is God's promise and He never lies.

I have studied comparative religion for 5 years and reasoned about this on either side with people who are heavyweight in the field. Neither could I convince them when I was an atheist, nor when I was a believer, nor did they convince me when they were either. It is tough for the following reasons:
1. If you don't believe in Him as personal God, then he must be intangible. Being Him intangible, then we can't apply our 5 senses on Him, moreover, our minds can't encompass him. So, bearing in mind the "Cause and Effect", we have, in this case to search for signs. Believers do, and I have to admit that signs of intelligence are everywhere around us. Therefore, they end up believing that He exists.
2. If you believe in God as a personal God, then He requires a space and time. Therefore He is not all powerful, can be captured tested in a test tube and proven He is just another being with some of what we now think of as super natural qualities. I, myself, do not believe in such a being.
3. People who denies God's existence are concerned with tangible evidences. I understand their point. Since there has been no direct tangible evidence to prove God's existence, they had to come to the conclusion that He doesn't exist.
It all depends on your premise. Tell me, what is your premise?

You can prove anything in the normal everday sense of the word, what you cannot give is absolute proof.
If you said that you had a relative who worked at the White House, I could say 'prove it' and you would not take the question to be meaningless. If you say there is a god and I say 'prove it' why do you think you cannot, why is it so much more difficult, if you cannot then there is no god worthy of the term.

hmmmmmmmmm........now lets see! When science want to prove something they describe the Energy that is being produced or being absorbed. Therefore the its answer has something to do with energy.
Theology, talk about energy as well.. god's energy or what ever name sake youwish to call it. This is created by yourself or others or even absorbed.
So what came first the chicken or the egg.
Both sciences use energy as a main focal point to prove or disprove.

This is not true my friend. You can really know the nature of god and what happens after death and what are purpose is here on earth. You should go to www.mormon.org and read it is extreamly informative. Also try praying and asking god with faith and non-perreserved thoughs. He will let you know. When you feel the holy ghost then you will truly know that god exists.

I can hardly agree more! It is indeed impossible for a person to prove or disprove the reality of God to another person.
God, however, is able to manifest His reality to anyone and everyone who seeks Him diligently. When that happens, what others believe or don't believe becomes irrelevant.
In most (but not all) cases, when I see or hear a believer trying to "prove" God to an unbeliever, I know that the believer probably doesn't really know Him themselves, they just decided to believe for whatever reason.

Human has a more complicated brain. People use their brains not just for basic survival like animals in the wild but for other pleasures as well.
I believe the ultimate truth cannot be discovered in andbody's life time. Whatever forms my conscience, I hope it will disperse in the vast universe and never form another opinion after this life.

Yeah thats where good ol' Pascal's wager comes in. If the Atheist dies having been wrong, they are in deep crap. If the Theist dies having been wrong, they will never know they were wrong (unless of course they chose the wrong god)
Reminds me of a Simpsons quote though, it refutes Pascal's wager better than anything I've seen before, "What if we chose the wrong religion and each week we just make God madder and madder"
