Ok a few minutes ago I got a call from a credit card company on an autodialer offering me a credit card. Having dragged me out of a nice sleep I wasn't in the greatest of moods. The machine said that if I pushed 1 I would get to talk to an associate for further info. What do you know, but I got a real breathing human being on the other end. So I said to her, " I don't know how you f---ing a--holes you got my god ******* number but take me off your f---ing list right now. She said, "oh you shouldn't say that to me I'm a christian".
I told her I didn't give a sh-- about what superstition you believed in just take me off you f---ing list.
Why did she think that by telling me a that she's a christian would make any difference how I talked to her after intruding on my life?

Well I've gotten several answers telling me I shouldn't say things like that. Too bad. The question is, why did she say she was a christian as if it would have made a difference (and it didn't)?

Good, the company trespassed on the phone line that you rent for their business purposes, they should pay you for using your line for advertising. You have every right to say whatever you feel like if they called you and inconvenienced you to sell you something you didn't want. If the person is offended by people coming down on them like that then maybe they need a different job.

I guess she thought, that by mentioning her religious affiliation, you would curb your language and respect the fact that she is a lady, and should not be spoken to in that manner. Also, she was just doing her job, and you had NO RIGHT to talk to her like that.
On the other hand, the computer called you, not her, and you had NO RIGHT chewing her head off for something a machine is programmed to do. You were right to request that your number be removed from the list, so you can catch up on your beauty sleep, maybe after a long night's work, but you had NO RIGHT to use such profane language to her.
It's not her fault that the computer called you. She is getting paid to ask if you wanted a credit card, not to take verbal abuse from you, no matter how much she intruded on your life, or how much sleep you lost. I know there is no way you can apologize to her, but you should. Turn off your phone next time, so you won't be disturbed.

Do you want respect for yourself? Most people feel that they deserve some measure of respect. How would you feel if for no reason someone just walked up to you on the street and started calling you every detrimental name that they could think of? It does not feel very good even if you are a person that was raised in a house hold that used such language, because if it is directed at you it becomes personal. I think that you also probably show a measure of respect for other people. For instance in the work place; if you know someone feels different about some value in life you probably do not insist on forcing your opinion on them and make them uncomfortable unless they are agreeable to discussion. In this case the person acted in a reasonable manner because they could have said a lot worse things to you than they did. I think it showed a lot of character on this lady's part and clearly you did see that she WAS a christian so I think she made a valid point. I do think that I would put my name on the do not call list because it seems to be disturbing to you to deal with the callers and you do have a RIGHT to your privacy.

well, i think she got it backward...if you were a Christian you shouldn't talk to her like that...not if she was a Christian. Because if you are not a Christian you don't care about what God thinks or love others like He does therefore you don't care about hurting someone's feelings. Where if you were a Christian you would.
Did the thought occure to you that its not her fault that you were called? She is just there for a paycheck and you probably made her feel horrible when she is trying so hard to stay in a good mood. I work on the phones and get blamed for everything under the sun, and very rarely did it have anything to do with me.

I agree with M.E. - you shouldn't talk like that to anyone. Would you want someone to talk to you like that, for doing your job?
And, if you don't want anyone calling and waking you up, unplug your phone - if you're afraid you'll miss an important call by unplugging your phone, then deal with it - in a civil manner. Just hang up.
BTW, being on the National Do Not Call List does NOT stop the calls. I'm on the list, and I'm still bothered with the calls daily!

Might I suggest you visit the National Do Not Call Registry and put your number on it?? You wont get any calls from telemarketers for five years.

You need caller ID and better manners.
or at least an answering machine.
You were just plain rude, I don't care who was on the other end of the phone.

She should have just hung up, there is no reason, in the business world, to bring up religious preference. Sales persons are told when they get a customer who uses vulgar language they are to, in most instances, hang up..... so, F**K her! HAHAHAHAHA!

I think you could have gotten your point across with out all of the curse words. It's very crude not to mention out of line.
