My perspective of life on earth is all about the treatment you provide yourself- in all aspects-mentally/physically.emotionally, others around you, and other THINGS around you. Of course, the art of impermenance is the principle of my practice but my beliefs are a philosophy more than a religion. Anyone else feel this way? If so, do you also believe you can never call yourself a buddhist but one that practices inner peace leading to world peace?

She consumes more butter than is healthy for anyone, yet she's somehow still alive.. She convinces people to use a POUND of butter for a batch of brownies. Is she evil, or does she just enjoy clogging people's arteries?

For my boyfriend (an Atheist) to buy me (an Agnostic) a Nintendo DS lite for a present, to be opened on December 25th?

Why?

Just asking because I see lots of questions along the lines of "Why do non believers celebrate Christmas?" and am wondering why some Christians are so selfish when it comes to holidays.

Obviously a lot of Christians and Muslims do. All you have to do is meet a fundamentalist Christian or listen to the news from the Middle East. "You will die and go to hell, because you are not a believer!"

Mortals!

This is from House MD. Season1 Episode 5:

"This illness is a test of my faith. If it's his will to take me, it
doesn't matter where I am. I can accept that."
"Does anybody believe anything you say? You're not accepting.
You're running away just like you always do. You ran away from the monastery, got layed. You ran away from the real world when getting layed didn't work out so good. Now things aren't working out again so off you go."
"Why is it so difficult for you to believe in God?"
"What I have difficulty with is the whole concept of belief. Faith
isn't based on logic and experience."
"I experience God on a daily basis and the miracle of life all
around, the miracle of birth, the mircle of love. He is always
with me."
"Where is the miracle in delivering a crack addicted baby? and
watching her mother abandon her because she needs another score? The miracle of love, you are over twice as likely to be killed by the person you love than by a stranger."

Is it right that the Qu'ran teaches hate for sinners, and people who do not choose to follow them?

Is it also right that islam teaches that women are not equal to their male counterparts?

Why does the Qu'ran also encourage that women whom choose to have a free will and a lifestyle where they are able to make their own decisions, should be put to death?

Don´t get me wrong, but some I´ve met are actually more aggresive than people from sects! They just want to make believers believe that God does not exist. I guess they don´t get it, but sometimes they seem more fanatic than the sects!

In older traditions, the serpent [snake] has been equated with life, death [both, at the same time], and wisdom. In the Abrahamic faiths, the snake brings death to th living, as well as knowledge. Now, bringing death was a result of being cast out of Eden, therefore we can place this as an "Unintended," [I use that loosely, as it was intended, but not the primary thing] consequence.

Now, the real nit pick is the knowledge. Before this, man could be classified as ignorant. The Snake delivers the knowledge needed for man, inspite of causing them to leave perfection. "Ignorance is easier, but it is bliss," applies here. So, in this regard, the Abrahamic God, implies he states his followers be ignorant of things, while at the same time having free will. How is that free will, when a person dosen't know enough to make a descision? Should the snake be seen as freedom in this story? Like the first messiah from YHVH?

Abrahamic= against learning, and knowledge?

Please, share your observation

You do not know their reasons for saying what they say or believing as they do. Let them speak for themselves. When they say the same of us, many of us respond with anger. Why do we not speak what we believe and allow them to do the same? You cannot know their mind so why do you speak as though you know their thoughts and feelings?

You say that it took millions/billions of years for all the layers in the Grand Canyon to form.
But after Mount Saint Helen erupted they dug and found that there was up to 30 feet of rock layers that had been laid down in a matter of hours.

wwJd -what would Jesus (want me to) do?

Ive lived life both ways-in sin with everything money could by as a well to do Jew-first rejecting Moses-call for marriage and for a blood atonement to forgive sins "The life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it to make atonement for your souls on the altar."

and I also rejected Isaiah's perfect prediction of our Messiah fulfilling the blood atonement-so I could live in sin-and worship what ever was more important to me than the Lord of the Jewish Scriptures that predicted Messiah Jesus.

Isaiah 52:13-53:12 "He will be exalted, and made very high. First he will be marred more than any man. He will be the arm of the Lord revealed. He will be the anointed one (Messiah). All we like sheep have gone astray and the Lord will make to light on Him the iiniquity of us all. He will lay down his life as an atonement for sins.

well I had to decide what was more important living in lust or in the Messiah to trust-I prayed saveMe-U2?
