If you have proof that the Bible portrays real people, and is not a fabricated myth, how can you do it? Please give sources other than the Bible!

a devout follower and practitioner of my faith. I have made it my duty and obligation to my fellow man to treat everyone, literally everyone I meet, as I would like to be treated. I give to many charities without expecting anything in return. I would die for my God, and my Faith. I read the scriptures and learn to perfect my faith. I join man and woman in matrimony in God's sight, and perform the necessary rites and rituals upon the dead so they may reach God quickly.

Can you tell by what I am what religion I practice?

Why do you celebrate Christmas if you don't beleive in Christ? Is it for your children? Are you all caught up on materialism and gift giving? I don't understand....

I had an answer from my last question that made me think.

Do the fundamentalists still have the power they once had? Is the religious lobby in Washington still an issue that Americans need to address?

Personally, coming from Texas, a bible belt state, I am afraid that this lady was correct. We still have to do something about the religious lobby.

Does anyone have any ideas what we can do? If you feel that we need to do anything.

I am a Christian. I teach my children God loves everyone and everything. What happened to my cousin on Friday sickens me--is this what you teach YOUR children to believe?

A little girl in his preschool has been bringing her Bible to school. She chooses to preach and tell everyone if they are going to heaven or hell. She has told him (who has FAS) that he will go to hell because he's ugly and retarded.

Are you teaching your kids to judge?

Are you teaching them that God is superficial?

As a Christian, I ask all parents who carry this faith to be careful when teaching your child what God says is right or wrong. Be careful in teaching your children to judge. I couldn't believe the ugly side of Christianity could rear it's head this early.

Finally: how do you think this could have been avoided?

Personally I think most people who go to Lutheran, Methodist etc churches don't really believe all the silliness about eternal damnation for not accepting Jesus in official church meaning. In your actions you may accept the one true God of good and love without calling him Jesus. There are plenty of good people who don't call themselves Christian's. People like Gandhi. I don't think the majority of Christian's really think good people go to hell. I mean Christians who use logic that is. Yet at their churches they just have to hear the occasional nonsense about eternal torture. Am I right that most Christians don't actually buy into the fire and brimstone dogma?

I guess it seems like hypocricy to me. How can we paganize something thats already considered to be pagen. The Biblical accounts point to the autumn of the year as the most likely time of Jesus' birth, based on details of the conception and the birth of John the Baptist. Since Elizabeth ( Johns Mother) was in her sixth month of pregnancy when Jesus was Conceived ( Luke 1:24-36) we can determine the approximate time of the year Jesus was born. After Zacharias learned that he and his wife, Elizabeth, would have a Child ( Luke 1:8-13). After he completed his service and traveled home elizabeth conceived verses 23-24. now assuming Johns conception took place near the end of June, adding nine months brings us to the end of March as the most likely time for Johns birth. Adding another six months( the difference in ages between John and Jesus) brings us to the end of September as the likely time of Jesus' birth.

Why is it only sometimes that we feel the need to give and to share love? i wish we would feel the joy every day. Why do we slip in and out of it?

I think we are getting out of hand with religions getting offended that one religious icon gets more "Airtime" than others...i want to sponsor a bill that registers The Christmas Tree and Santa as commercial Icons only NOT religious symbols...because as you know jesus never had a christmas tree...and santa was a dutchman!! I hate that you set up a christmas tree in certain areas because one religion or another gets offended......Leave The Commercial Christmas Alone!!! Enjoy your own religion...but leave my presents out of this!!!

Do you believe that the Christians we see on these boards are a true representation of the views of the majority of the Christians in our country?

I do not. The fundamentalist are here to save souls. They do not represent the majority of Christians, whom I believe to be just as open minded as most sane people.

Its long so if you are not in the mood to read move on.
THE QUESTION IS AT THE END
Once a long time ago, I found myself in a situation that forever changed the way I view prayers and its power and many purposes. Try to bear with me as I share this story with you. I was use to be where you are now and I would understand if you found it annoying to continue. I will try and tell this in 400words or less.
The city I use to live in was a large populated area and like many cities similar to this it had more than its share of crime. One day like any other day I went about my business. I had to make a trip to the laundry mat and when did I notice an article on the bulletin board. It was more of a glance as I was passing by. Without warning or any indication I was overwhelmed with a powerful feeling to look at the picture. I looked and then a voice said, "pray." I glanced around at the 2 other people in the room and thought, "please don’t do this or I will look whacked in front of these people." The day was going well and looking like a fruit cake was not in my plans. As these thoughts were in my mind the people finished their things and left the building. The urge was so strong that I felt as though my body would burst open if I held it in any longer. So I prayed over the child in the picture. I was filled with anguish and sorrow for the kidnapped child that had been missing for a couple of weeks. I had heard of this girl vaguely in the news before. I was sad but not shocked since crime was not new. I left and went about my day. Off and on the heaviness and sorrow would return and I would stop and pray again. That night I had a dream that the girl was being kept under the floor of a building where many children played and parents stopped by. I dreamed it was a secret place that no one knew about but this man. Next day I awoke and wondered what it meant. I didn’t put a lot of thought into it, I just wondered. A few days later the news showed the mother weeping and thanking God for her daughter’s return. She stated she knew with prayers she would be returned. They found the child at her day care building where the maintenance man had kept her under the building all that time she was missing.
MY QUESTION?? Who was the voice that told me? And why?

I have heard some people call Adolph Hitler a "good Christian" or a "good catholic". I wonder if they are actually serious, or if they are just trying to instigate hostilities?

Jesus said "By their works you shall know them." I don't care how many pious speeches a man makes, or how many times he walks into a religious building, or how much money he gives to "charity": a butcher is still a butcher. Are people really fooled by the whitewash? Does walking into a church make you a christian? If so, then does walking into a MacDonalds make you a hamburger?
