Do you believe that the Christians we see on these boards are a true representation of the views of the majority of the Christians in our country?

I do not. The fundamentalist are here to save souls. They do not represent the majority of Christians, whom I believe to be just as open minded as most sane people.

thank you for that vote of confidence as I believe there are many paths and ways to reach ones destination such as walking riding a bike, a motorcycle, taking a bus, a plane, a train, etc. all will get one to the destination which is the important thing -- not how. after all GOD is to big to be in only one place. the only major differences in one Religion and another are the NAMES they refer to GOD as along with the differences they use in performing the Rituals and Ceremonies which are used to Honor, Glorify, Pray to and Petition, Thank, Praise, Adore, Worship, Etc. GOD.

Not only that, but I believe that the attitudes exhibited by many of the Christians here do not really represent their OWN views. Not that they're deliberately misrepresenting themselves--it's just that many are responding defensively to attacks and perceived attacks by us non-Christians, and that makes them seem far less tolerant than they probably would in the real world. Even the gentlest family pet will become vicious when it feels threatened and backed into a corner. That's also the reason why atheists appear more testy, even vicious, here than they would in person.

As a Christian, open minded and liberal, I will not support that the fundamentalist are the only ones who come here to save souls, anymore than I will say that those atheists here represent all atheists views and come only to harass and condemn Christians, Jews and Islams. God has a purpose for all of us.

Seems I've imagined Him all of my life
As the wisest of all of mankind
But if God's Holy wisdom is foolish to men
He must have seemed out of His mind

For even His family said He was mad
And the priests said a demon's to blame
But God in the form of this angry young man
Could not have seemed perfectly sane

When we in our foolishness thought we were wise
He played the fool and He opened our eyes
When we in our weakness believed we were strong
He became helpless to show we were wrong
And so we follow God's own fool
For only the foolish can tell-
Believe the unbelievable
And come be a fool as well

So come lose your life for a carpenter's son
For a madman who died for a dream
And you'll have the faith His first followers had
And you'll feel the weight of the beam
So surrender the hunger to say you must know
Have the courage to say I believe
For the power of paradox opens your eyes
And blinds those who say they can see

So we follow God's own Fool
For only the foolish can tell
Believe the unbelievable,
And come be a fool as well

I know as a Christian myself I have been kind of sad by the way so many Christians on this forum seem to be mad and out for vengeance which is so not what I've gained from my time with the Lord. You know it isn't about telling people they are going to hell it is about the good news that God lives and loves us and He can give the greatest gifts which is peace and joy and love of all man-kind. He did not give us these gifts so that we can argue with opposing views. We aren't suppose to argue with people.

I just don't know. The range of responses I've seen here is the same as the range I've seen in real life. But in both the internet and real life, I probably notice the extremes more than the norms anyway.

You can always judge a group by it's fundamentalists. The vast majority won't be fundamentalists but the fundamentalis give a truer representation of true christianity. Say no to jesus

I think its mostly the fundies are the ones that go on web sites to try to push their religion on everyone else. The problem is, they do have far too much power and there are far too many of them in real life.

Jesus called us to save souls, so I HOPE the Christians on these pages are representative. The others aren't doing their job. Jesus loves us ALL and want all to be saved. That is why we are here. Merry Christmas.
