Sermon On The Mound

It's called the Sermon on the Mount. No one knows the exact date and location--they don't even know the exact date when Jesus was born.

It was someplace in the hill country just north of the Sea of Galilee. There is a Christian church which marks the traditional spot, but no one knows for sure.

Remember, we are talking about an event that occurred 2000 years ago. Can you tell me the date and location of any speech given by William Shakespeare? He lived much more recently. Some things just were not recorded.

Actually, it's unknown where and when Jesus delivered the "Sermon on the Mount." The most specific you can get is that it was sometime around 30 or 31CE and somewhere in or around Galilee.

It was not one of the "holy" mountains like Mount Sinai, Mount Zion, Mount Moriah or the Mount of Olives, but an anonymous, ordinary mount, again outside Jerusalem, with no distinguishing holiness or history.
