I have heard some people call Adolph Hitler a "good Christian" or a "good catholic". I wonder if they are actually serious, or if they are just trying to instigate hostilities?

Jesus said "By their works you shall know them." I don't care how many pious speeches a man makes, or how many times he walks into a religious building, or how much money he gives to "charity": a butcher is still a butcher. Are people really fooled by the whitewash? Does walking into a church make you a christian? If so, then does walking into a MacDonalds make you a hamburger?

It isn't because of what he was, they are using him to put down the Christians. He is just another tool to insult the Christians, and what better of a tool to use than an evil man like him!

Just ignore them and turn the other cheek.

Merry Christmas

Hitler wasn't really a Christian, even though he was raised a Catholic. People may say that he was a "good Christian" because many of his political ideas are similar to right wing conservative Christian ideas. (Except the whole Jew thing.)

Hitler confessed his sins to a priest after taking the cianide pill, it seems his sins were forgiven by some Christian fundamentalist views. I'm guessing that is why. Saw it on the History channel.

Because he was raised catholic and spoke highly of Christianity. His writings and speeches on the subject of religion are eerily similar to speeches and writings of contemporary 'conservatives'. Antisemitism having become unfashionable those aspects aren't let out, at least not for the general public anyway.

His rabid antisemitism was perfectly in line with catholic tradition prior to the holocaust. Much of Mein Kampf is derived/influenced from/by a book written by the founder of the Lutheran church.

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders." Adolf Hitler, speech in Munich April 12, !922

He was a minor monster aided by millions of his fellow monsters, by and large christian monsters in belief and motive. He and they may not match your christian ideal, but you aren't the sole arbiter of what is and isn't christian now are you.

I think they are just trying to instigate things. Hitler's actions proved that he was not a good anything.

They are either insane... or trying to cut down the church by attacking some one that claimed to be part of the church, kinda like hating a government and a society because of one person that just happens to be part of it.

Because they are misinformed. Hitler detested Christianity. He saw it as having to submit yourself to something(Jesus) and he viewed that as a great fallacy. He believed in survival of the fittest.

He was probably raised and Baptized a Christian. But he was a very very very bad Christian...not a good one.
