Islam is our friend not our enemy. It teaches peace and love, just like christianity, only complete idiots would think it teaches hate.

If you think that Islam is full of terrorists then you no nothing about Islam or Mohammad.

Did you know that Mohammad had Pagan friends?
He said that the pagan Gods were nothing but Statues, But he respected their beleifs as long as they respected his.

Mohammad was a great Man, if you would just take the time to learn about him you would see that.

There is a growing set of documented incidents from patients having operations, providing accounts post operation of events that occurred during their surgery for which they could not possibly have been conscious or have had any possibility of deriving the information that they recounted.

They all report having out of body experiences and witnessing their operation from a vantage point away from their body.

When surgical conditions demand that all brain function ceases and yet consciousness persists, this would seem to provide an ideal set of circumstances to observe these out of body phenomena, which must be independent of physical consciousness.

To me these experiences point to the existence of something 'other', which we possess that can exist outside of and beyond our physcial forms. Could this be the Soul?

I ask because I am not religious, nor an agnosic nor an atheist. I don't expect a heaven but having nothing for a hereafter is BS too.

I went to a Baptist school and the people there were always saying ' I hate this' or ' I hate him' or 'I hate you' then they would turn around and preach about spreading the word of God. How is 'hating' people spreading the word of God? Is not the word of the Lord spread through actions as well?

Does anyone else feel like religion could give a child self esteem problems? This is a serious question, and not meant to offend. However I do feel that constantly telling someone they are a "sinner" could do some serious damage. Even to an adult, could it not be damaging to always hear that you are not good enough? You are saved by the grace of God alone, and not Human works?
Say if I was a JW and I don't minister door to door, or Muslim and not practice the 5 pillars, or be like some Catholics that belive that going to Confession will help them with Salvation.

I have been trying to find a religion other than Christianity that states God did the work for us in some form of atonement because there is nothing we can do that would make Him love us more than He already does. It seems to be that all others say you have to do works in one form or another to earn salvation.

All a Christian has to do is this....

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the lord Jesus, and shalt belive in thine HEART that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Once you have done this you are born in Him, and this will show in your works and how you live.

I have been looking but I have not found something like this. Have I missed somthing?

..ummm. OK. Saying that the earth is 6000 years old, when it really is proven by Radioactive dating of rocks, using a wide variety of radioisotopes with very different decay methods that show the very oldest rocks on Earth are about 3.9 billion years old, is not exactly what I would call a 'near miss'.

Can anyone explain why some Fundies claim earth is 6000 years old, or is it just another mystery of the christian faith?

Example: Stanley Kubrick believed the generation after his passing would become immortal.

Are there any theories of what immortality would entail? The repurcussions, the political changes,etc... Or, is it merely a wishful thinking brought on by science fiction fans?

I know that there are a lot of christians who use plenty of pagan traditions in their holiday merriment... including churchs, with the hanging of the greens, and some even put up trees inside. Many symbols and practices associated with Christmas are of Pagan origin: holly, ivy, mistletoe, yule log, the giving of gifts, decorated evergreen tree, magical reindeer, etc. Polydor Virgil, an early British Christian, said "Dancing, masques, mummeries, stageplays, and other such Christmas disorders now in use with Christians, were derived from these Roman Saturnalian and Bacchanalian festivals; which should cause all pious Christians eternally to abominate them." So why do they still use them, and then deny that the celebration of christmas has ANY pagan ties?
