Malachai 6:8 What does the Lord require of you? To Love mercy, live justicly to walk humbly with your God.
That is the beginning, to fighting oppression, to not add to it.
To pray.
To get involved in appropriate action with the skills God as given you. I work in housing (for homeless people), I help overcome the injustices and oppression they face.
I also get involved with my church, I give people time...

Examine your own life and learn the consequences of your lifestyle for others, upstream and down. When you find oppression, stop it, then speak out, show others who may not know. Challenge those who know and refuse to change. You may have to change your occupation, your commitments, even your friends. But God's sympathy is with the powerless and the outcaste.
Remember what Jesus said to the man who had kept all God's commandments and asked what else he could do: "Go and sell all you have, then give the money to the poor." It's economic and social suicide according to the world's rules, but that's the way the Gospel points. I wonder how many followers there'd be if that was mandatory?

Become God's physical form on Earth and help the oppressed thru your prayers and your physical self. Volunteer, Use Politicians, whatever you can do. Don't let anyone oppress someone in your life and never allow people to speak oppressively........my humble idea from a un-educated 70's drop out.....Hey, But I'm clean!

He tells us to love our neighbor, to be the salt of the earth and to share with those in need.
Usually, we don't need to go far to do this. There may be people in your own family who are part of the oppressed.

We "recognize that being followers of Jesus is costly, and entails selfless love, conscientious resistance to evil, and renunciation of privilege."

i'm not sure exactly what your question is, but to join christianity, all you have to do is love and trust Jesus, and admit that you're a bad person (that's not meant to beat up on you, we're all bad people by the Christian definition).

As John the baptist said, repent, believe in Jesus Christ, and be baptize... then you can carry on his work.
