Okay, say life DID form out of chemicals
(even though the chance of that is less likely that the words "To be or not to be, that is the question" forming when you drop Scrabble letters on a table).
Where did those chemicals come from? Had they always been there? Was the universe ALWAYS here? The world had to have been created at sometime, or it would be eternal, and be like a god. Whatever you say, someone can always say, but where did THAT come from? Eventually, you'll have something created out of nothing. Isn't this evidence enough for belief in an Intelligent Designer (we call Him God)?

Any thoughts and appropriate answers welcome.

Thanks for your time.

I am a Christian since birth. I have been taught that for someone to truly choose to be a Christian and sincerely mean it, they must first go through some period of doubt/trial and that this is normal. However, I seem to be rapidly progressing downward in a cycle that I can't seem to break out of. I am a freshman in college, and even though I ask God every day to help me, I have no will power and I feel sick and I'm starting to hate myself. I have gone from being a very nice girl to almost having sex with my bf, masturbating & watching porn DAILY, and now Ive recently begun to notice that girls are attractive to me too. I know I'm being very emotional and that this will probably attract jokes, etc., but I'm totally serious and I need help.

Does God want us to walk backwards?

16:19. There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and feasted sumptuously every day.
16:20. And there was a certain beggar, named Lazarus, who lay at his gate, full of sores,
16:21. Desiring to be filled with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table. And no one did give him: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
16:22. And it came to pass that the beggar died and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom. And the rich man also died: and he was buried in hell.
16:23. And lifting up his eyes when he was in torments, he saw Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom:

Well, you get the picture? (More in the gospel of Luke Ch 16)

Okay, don't bash my head in I know it sounds a bit harsh. But, when children are in their formative years they are most receptive to the vivid imagery the bible depicts. The fear of God is more easily instilled into a young mind than that of an adult. Children easily accept the concept of the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus but the fear factor is not added but for the exception of having to be a good little boy or girl for Santa to come and visit. But religion is a whole other thing. Is not the concept of fear the most effective tool to make a person stay true to God and in order to perpetuate the faith. What I suppose I'm trying to ask is why not let children grow up and let them decide for themselves?

Please only answer this is you are a serious Christian..."Christ Follower"

I'm a Christian and have been so for many years. Lately I've been struggeling with my prayer life. Some people say you should pray as though you know God is going to do whatever it is you are asking...praying with faith...like....God, thank you for the healing I know you are going to bring to my mother. ...instead of asking...Please heal my mother. I'm just confused about this. They say that it takes the faith of a mustard seed to move a mountain...is this how we should pray too? I hope my question makes sense.

Instead of looking backward, wouldn't it make more sense to learn how to behave in more helpful ways in the future?

Why dwell on all the guilt, shame, and expectations of harsh punishment?

Plenty of religions have advocated this throughout history.

I suspect a lot less people would walk the walk, then who talk the talk around here.

God created man, God created man to be flawed, but he wants us to feel sorry when we make mistakes, but he made us to make mistakes. Does this make sense?
Is he not setting man up for failure from the beginning?

And God is the source of all evil and good. I wish religions would stop looking at God in only one perspective.
Please give a summary of the statements above and please do not quote the bible.

And please show where in The Bible it states so.
Not sexual fornification is a sin, but masturbation as either a sin or masturbation clearly defined as sexual fornification.

The answer is yes, if we define "human" only in terms of biology. Certainly civilized humans and barbarian Jihadists are of the same species, but if we define humanity as something more, then we have a problem.

In my estimation, a human is an entity capable of some degree of rational thinking who is not easily pushed into a "herd" and had an education that incorporated the views and science of cultures outside their own.

Obviously, by this definition, entire theocratic countries in the east, who believe in the religion of the warlord prophet, do not make the cut.

If you disagree and think they are human, thats fine, explain why. Again, I already concede the biology. I am not calling them "apes and pigs" like the Quran calls non-muslims.

Most people are ignorant and do not know that any sub religion of Christianity stemed from the Catholic Church. You may not like the current structure of the church but that doesn't mean the early catholic church was all bad. I think people would be really shocked if they actually took the time to read up on the history of Christianity. I encourage you all to actually investigate and not speak from ignorance but from educated intelligence. Also, People frame Catholics as the source of all religious persecussion. I am not saying they have done no wrong but you also should look into history and discover the persecution of Catholics from early roman times to the prejudical treatment Protestants gave then in America up until JFK. Starting at the Rev. War catholics history in America has been filled with religious persecussion that Anglo-Saxon Protestants fled europe to gain. Ie) Catholics were not allowed to vote& protestants taught their bible to force cath. kids out (leads to cath. schls

You know if someone made a religion out of science fiction, someone should do the same for star wars. I remember seeing two or three followers on here and was wondering what kind of rituals do they make up? I think someone should also start sithism just to make sure the dissatisfied non-believers can join some group. What do you think?
