I mean would it alter our existance if we didn't have religion? Would we be anymore likely to starve or would the advance of man be halted or accelerated? What do you think?

My father said that it is written in the bible that a man/woman should leave the house of their parents when they get married. He said that it is written that when a man/woman gets married, their family should always come first before their parents. Can someone tell me where it is written in the bible?

You see, I'm in a long distance relationship and after my studies I'll be going to my boyfriends place which is really far away from my parents place. I really feel bad thinking that I would be leaving them and wouldn't be able to see them for a very long time. I've been with them since I was a child and have never left them for so long. The longest I think that I left without seeing them was 2 months and when I get married I will move to another country where I won't be able to visit them if I want to. That's why I'm trying to find the scripture. I think it will help me. thanks

Hmm, if I screw up and go to hell, isn't Satan the guy that is going to be kicking the crap out of me for all eternity?
It seems rather strange that people do all of this praying and groveling to the judge when they could just pay off the executioner.

This is not meant to be offensive in any way!!

We have all read and heard this being discussed openly.
What is the reason for the Muslims doing this?
Is this practise 'good'?
If 'Yes', what are the benefits?

If 'No', what are the drawbacks?

does He punish people, in some way, for their wrong deeds?
Does God reward us for our good deeds?
What is your view about God in regards to God dealing with us in this present lifetime?

My husband died 8 years ago. I have been dead inside ever since. I have 2 children, 12 and 16 and a fiancee. I am waiting for the day that no one needs me so I can die. In the meantime I am looking for something that may give some larger purpose to living. I do not believe in God so please don't tell me that is the reason.

Why do we live in a society where men like to live together first or have sex before marriage, work after having kids and so on? Surely if men want us to want marriage you have to be offering us something too?

In this day and age what exactly do women gain out of marriage, especially if they are the wealthiest and have the most to lose? Ok companionship and so on, but most men I meet are more needy for attention and ego massaging than women.

A group of friends went to a very haunted place. One tried to do a fire aura and the other tried to feed from the evil and ended up trying to protect a child stuck. While they were doing this it angered the spirits and they began to physically attack me - both of their spirits did and I kept getting that the spirit could not get them it would get the one they love most. There were others there that one of them has known longer than me. I am friends with both men - one closer to than the other. One tried to date my daughter but did not over friendship to me or so he said. I don't know and do not trully know the extent of their feelings toward me - they are young and I am older. Just know the pains I felt were very real - Once they finally decided to get me out of there - the further away we got the more I felt the activity back at that location but the one remaining started feeling the pains that I was experiencing and still did. There is so much more to this I don't have room.

There seems to be so much bashing back and forth, about athieism and religious people, so I'd like to know how you differ from people who believe in God?
Why do some people seem to automatically "assume" that you might be unmoral? ( I don't)
Why do you feel as you do about a supreme being?
Has "religion" turned you off? If so, in what way.?
How did creation come about, without a higher being?
I'm looking for honest athiest answers...for understanding what it is really about. Thanks!
