I stuck with the truth and got punished, but I do not care because to tell the truth is better then lying any day. Most people do believe a lie over a truth. Why? Because it is pleasing to the senses, check out the story of Eve being tempted in the garden.

I think in today's society it is easier for people to believe a lie. I have told my family (sisters) the truth and they didn't believe me...they thought I was nuts! But I haven't been threatened to tell a lie, and if I had, I would take the punishment to tell the truth.

Because the "truth" is a matter of persepective. What is truth to an atheist is a lie to a xian. What is truth to a xian is a lie to a pagan. The Truth to a Buddhist is a lie to a Muslim.

How arrogant is it to insist to others that what you believe is the "Truth" and that what they believe is wrong? Just because you don't agree with them, doesn't make them wrong. And it doesn't make you right, for that matter.

Because people are ignorant. The ignorance will take over the world one day (though technically, it already has)

Yes, I have told the truth before but people didn't believe me, but that doesn't always happen because of ignorance, it also happens if I have lied before and people don't trust me anymore. Either one.

Have a nice day

Because religion indoctrinates them to believe the untruths at a young age. People would rather believe an untruth that makes them feel good than believe an inconvenient truth.

Because the truth shall set you free they'd prefer hearing a lie and feel that everything is ok when its not

Because the Word of Truth, (the Bible) is like looking into a mirror when you read it; only it's like looking into a mirror before you've showered; when all of the filth is there, exposed for everyone to see. Once you get saved and the Lord "cleans you up", it's not so offensive to look in the "mirror" anymore.....

Simply, Because of Their FATHER.....!

(John 8:43-44-45) [JESUS Said] Why do ye not understand My speech? Even because ye cannot hear My Word.

(John 8:44) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode Not In The Truth, because there is No Truth in him. When he speaketh a Lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a Liar, and the father of it. [ALL LIES!]

(John 8:45) And because I tell you The Truth, ye believe Me not.

Thanks, RR

When someone already has the "truth" embedded in their minds. Unless you conform to their preconceived notions, they assume you are lying unless they have respect for you. You need a character witness that vouches for your story that is respected by the party who "has you pegged."
