Wow, your ignorance is amazing.
Muslims are currently killing in Allah's name and last time I checked they weren't doing it in an organized army.

In that past (crusades) Armies were raised by the Kings of countries to gain more land most of which used religion to fight what they believed in, over time this has as changed is small ways but even today its still the same, Government raise armies to protect their lands. Religions comes in to play as the men go into battle and need a higher power to help with the fear they face. Even the non believers of a god turn to a higher power to help face the fear. There have been a number of religious wars through out time but again its a group of people fighting for what they believe is right. Going into battle and not know the out come of what may happen causes people to naturally turn to a religion.
I would not say they are deluded into killing but using there fear that is created.
When you actual are in the fog of war what you do? kill or be killed?
there are also have been a number of times when the fighting in the front lines has stopped and both sides have joined in peace for a meal and a game of football (soccer for the Americans). this only shows that we are all human and some men/women feel they are fighting for what their King/country/ government is trying to protect or the cause they trying help.

Not all army men are religious at all. Some are atheist so to give them a cause for religion would be ludacris. Yes there are people who are high up in the church who support war, but as stated in another question, war is never about religion. Anyone who thinks it is has been told a lie and was gullible enough to believe it. And for that, the person starting the war should be held doubly accountable. However, war is only ever about money and power and supremacy. It is about domination and subjugation. It is simply wrapped up in a pretty package called God, jihad or crusade in order to try to hide it's true intent.

to the first answer given, priests of professing christian religion 'blesses' their soldiers before going to battle...does that mean God is on their side?
no because God would not tolerate such killings.
I wonder which god is happy about wars.
revelation 12:7 And war broke out in heaven: Mi´cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.
for me, army men are mislead that they are fighting for God, but they are fighting for the 'god of this world.' I dont know if they think like that.

All armies are made up of impressionable young men being given orders by increasingly older men who ultimately serve the ideology into which they have invested their own lives. In the deepest sense, war is the twisted instinct of "survival of the fittest". It is our most base and primitive instinct writ large.

Religion and War: False religion has shown its rotten fruitage in other ways. For example, though the Bible says to “love your neighbor,” religious leaders throughout the world have zealously supported and promoted warfare.—Matthew 22:39.
8 It is well-known that during 1994, some nuns and priests participated in the slaughter of people in Rwanda. Religion has played a major role in other African conflicts as well. For example, during the bloody civil war in Nigeria, religions on both sides encouraged the people to fight. As that war dragged on, one pastor said that church leaders had “set aside the work given to them by God.” He also said: “We who call ourselves ministers of God have become ministers of Satan.”
The Bible says much the same thing: “Satan himself keeps transforming himself into an angel of light. It is therefore nothing great if his ministers also keep transforming themselves into ministers of righteousness.” (2 Corinthians 11:14, 15 - Just as many wicked men pretend to be good, Satan deceives people with ministers who appear to be righteous but whose works are wicked and whose fruitage is rotten.
10 Throughout the world, religious leaders have preached love, peace, and goodness, but they have practiced hatred, war, and ungodliness. The Bible describes them well. It says: “They publicly declare they know God, but they disown him by their works.”—Titus 1:16.
Get Out of “Babylon the Great”!
We can see what Jehovah thinks about false religion by reading the Bible book of Revelation. There, false religion is described as a symbolic woman, “Babylon the Great.” (Revelation 17:5 - Note how God describes her:
â “The great harlot . . . with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication.” (Revelation 17:1, 2) Rather than being faithful to God, false religion has meddled in politics, often telling governments what to do.
â “In her was found the blood of prophets and of holy ones and of all those who have been slaughtered on the earth.” (Revelation 18:24) False religion has persecuted and killed faithful servants of God and has been responsible for the death of millions in warfare.
â “She glorified herself and lived in shameless luxury.” (Revelation 18:7) False religion has great riches, which her leaders use to live in luxury.
â “By her spiritistic practice all the nations were misled.” (Revelation 18:23.) By her false teaching that the soul does not die, false religion has opened the door to every kind of spiritism and sorcery and has promoted fear of the dead and worship of ancestors.
12 Sounding a strong warning to people to separate from false religion, the Bible says: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues.”—Revelation 18:4, 5 -
13 In the near future, Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, will be totally destroyed. The Bible says: “In one day her plagues will come, death and mourning and famine, and she will be completely burned with fire, because Jehovah God, who judged her, is strong.” (Revelation 18:8.) To avoid receiving part of her plagues, we must break off all connections with false religion, having nothing to do with practices, celebrations, and beliefs that are displeasing to God. The matter is urgent! Our lives are at stake!—2Â Corinthians 6:14-18.
Do the facts support this indictment of false religion? In the book Preachers Present Arms, the author said: “In the history of civilizations, . . . two forces have ever been joined together in a dual alliance. They are war and religion. And, of all the great world religions, . . . none has been more devoted to [war] than has (Christendom).” Some years ago, The Sun newspaper of Vancouver, Canada, stated: “It is a weakness of perhaps all organized religion that the church follows the flag . . . What war was ever fought in which God wasn’t claimed to be on each side?” You may have seen the proof of this in some local church. All too often, national flags adorn the altar. Under which flag do you think Jesus would march? His words have echoed down through the centuries: “My kingdom is no part of this world”!—John 18:36.
13 Christendom’s religions have not taught their flocks the truth of genuine brotherly love. Instead, national, tribal, and ethnic differences are allowed to divide their ranks. Reports indicate that Catholic and Anglican clergy played a role in the divisions resulting in the tribal genocide in Rwanda. The New York Times reported: “The massacres in Rwanda have caused many Roman Catholics there to feel betrayed by the church hierarchy. The church was often divided along ethnic lines, between Hutu and Tutsi.” The same newspaper quoted a Maryknoll priest as saying: “The church failed so miserably in Rwanda in 1994. Many Rwandans have in a sense written off the church. It no longer has any credibility.” What a contrast to Jesus’ words: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.”—John 13:35.
The other major religions of Babylon the Great have not set a better example. The terrible massacres of 1947, when India was partitioned, show that the major religions there have not produced tolerance. Continued communal violence in India bears out that most people have not changed. Little wonder that the magazine India Today concluded: “Religion has been the banner under which the most hideous crimes have been perpetrated. . . . It unleashes tremendous violence and is a very destructive force.” The Bible points to one in particular, saying: “The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: Everyone who does not carry on righteousness does not originate with God, neither does he who does not love his brother. For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should have love for one another; not like Cain, who originated with the wicked one and slaughtered his brother.”—1 John 3:10-12.
Rather than encourage love for one’s brother, the churches have supported and even promoted the killing of one’s brother in war. Thus, they have become pawns of Satan the Devil just as surely as were the religions of the ancient Egyptians, Assyrians, Babylonians, and Romans. Jesus Christ called Satan “the ruler of this world” and said regarding His true followers: “They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.” (John 12:31; 17:16; 2Â Corinthians 4:4) Yet, the churches have made themselves an integral part of this world.
Clearly, then, God is not using the churches to fulfill his purpose to create a war-free world. Despite what chaplains and other church representatives say, God does not take sides in the wars of nations.
