hello i have to write an assingment on: how accurate is it to describe hinduism as a polythestic religion.

for the essay im thinking of looking at the hindu religion itself, with a brief comparison to christianity. i will study the main gods- the 3 gods of the trinity- brahama, vishnu and shiva, n the mother goddess shakti or dara. the many gods that they worship will help understand the polythestic part.

i was then going to look at arguements of it being polythestic or not, look at both sides.

wat else do i need to include tho? is looking at the main gods enough to show it as polythestic? ne other ideas? wat about the vedas do they need to be included?

please help

thanks

It matters whats going in the heart of the individual..So if a married man or woman masturbates while thinking of each other is that wrong. There are time when couple cant be together for whatever reason...Is this ok or no?

I am an atheist who married my wife, who is a Christian, in a church. That was what she wanted, so I don't have a problem with it. A lie? No. The pastor marrying us knew I was an atheist. He asked a lot of questions, but he was willing to perform the ceremony. I still plan to be married to her and stick by her for our entire lifetime according to our vows, and I still hold my marriage as something to be cherished of of the highest importance in my life. We have a great marriage and have been married for nearly 4 years now.

I also celebrate Christmas, by the way. It's one of my favorite holidays. I celebrate it because it is a time to be around your family, to exchange gifts, and to show each other that you care for one another. It is a fun and happy family time, with or without religion.

So you see, it is possible for us all the get along. The religious, and the not, that is. What are your opinions about this?

I've heard that some schools do not allow anymore Xmas parties because it's offensive to non-christian students and parents... I guess that's because they don't like the "Jesus-Mary-Joseph" thing :p

Western Christianity comprises Catholicism, Protestantism, and Anglicanism (Episcopalian) celebrates Christmas that contains pagan origins.

Eastern Christianity can be described as comprising four families of churches: the Assyrian Church of the East, the Eastern Orthodox Churches, Oriental Orthodoxy, and the Eastern Catholic Churches celebrates Easter that contain pagan origins.

Can you think of any religious group (based on Christ teachings) that do not have pagan practices, beliefs or merged with pagan celebrations? Do any exist? Are there more then one?

I know it seems very stupid to ask this to atheists also, but I'm an atheist pantheist (in that I believe there is no higher power than the universe) yet I still believe prayer can work as an affirmation, and way to state what I believe to myself occasionally.

Can you also give a link or write your favourite prayer?

I asked these groups of people because Judeo-Christian/Muslim prayers are unlikely to be of use to me, since I do not believe in the Judeo-Christian/Muslim G-d.

Thanks x

I've heard that when we die, we have to give an account of our lives to God. What exactly does that entail? Is that like Judge and jury type scenario? Doesn't sound good at all. I need some clarification please. Thank you.

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. And those who are with him are hard against the disbelievers but tender among themselves. Thou seest them bowing and prostrating themselves in Prayer, seeking Allah's grace and pleasure. Their marks are upon their faces, being the traces of prostrations. This is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is like unto a seed-produce that sends forth its sprout, then makes it strong; it then becomes stout, and stands firm on its stem, delighting the sowers - That He may cause the disbelievers to boil with rage at the sight of them. Allah has promised, unto those of them, who believe and do good works, forgiveness and a great reward
And, surely, among them is a party who twist their tongues while reciting the Book that you may think it to be part of the Book, while it is not part of the Book. And they say, 'It is from Allah;' while it is not from Allah; and they utter a lie against Allah while they know

I would like for someone to cast me a spell that will bring a girl into my life. The spell doesn't hurt anyone, so nothing would come back to me. I have tried meeting girls at malls, arcades, football games, and even the online dating sites. Everything that I tried failed, so now I need to rely on a spell to do it. I don't know someone that practice the art of magic, so can someone that knows how to cast a spell for me. Magic is a last resort sense evertyhing failed, so im going to have to rely on a spell.

I have always called myself an atheist because according to my definition, an atheist is someone who has no religious beliefs. I do not say that they is definitely no god, but I do not believe in him either. I also do not practice any religion. So what should I call myself?

I'm not really sure what the definition of agnostic is. My wife says I should call myself that, because it is someone who neither believes nor disbelieves. I have heard other definitions of agnostic however that say an Agnostic believes in higher power but does not follow a particular religion.

This is all very confusing. Can you offer your own definitions of Atheist and Agnostic to help me sort this out?

Look, people can pray ALL they want to in school BECAUSE of the religious freedom guaranteed by the principle of separation of church and state which disallows any REPRESENTATIVE of the school or state (acting in that capacity) to overtly or subtly endorse a particular practice. Why do I get all these persecution emails that say we can't pray in school, then? And why are these facts met with opposition -- they're simple facts! And it happens on both side -- when the principle of separation of church and state was misunderstood and caused a high school to prevent christian students from spreading a religious message (Massachusetts, 2003), the ACLU rightfully jumped in and defended the students' rights. Where does the problem lie in not understanding the fact that the law ensures religious freedom by disallowing endorsement by a representative?

Me and my first cousin are both male homosexual adults in a consenting homosexual relationship, yet no one wants to accept our lifestyle choice.

Liberals keep throwing words at us like: redneck, incest, trailer park, nascar, and wal-mart. Then conservatives keep throwing words at us like: fag, God, sin, and hell.

Whatever happened to openmindedness? Plus it isn't really incest because we cannot produce children as we are both male so the whole argument of birth defects is thrown right out the window. Come on people... be smart!

So as usual we're hearing about women in Islam having no rights. So women have equality in the West then huh? I ask you this then.....do MEN? Women go to the office wearing trouser suits, or if they feel like showing their legs, they can wear a skirt & jacket. Can men go to work in the office in a jacket & a pair of shorts? Why not? Isn't that unfair? Where the equality? My point is, men & women are different. they have different rights & duties. Women can bear children, & men can't. How can two people who are different be the same, or equal? Why can't they have differences & why is it seen as negative that women are asked to cover up? Men by nature are visually stimulated, women are not. If a woman covers herself, and only allows close male family members & other women to see her beauty, why is that considered strange? Surely it is HER "right" who can see her beauty & who cannot?

Is it true that Planned Parenthood goes into the public school system to teach teens about Sexuality in the hopes they will become sexually active, in which there might be outcomes of unwanted prenacies, therefore resulting in business for their clinincs to collect at least $250/abortion?

Has anyone ever read the story of Carol Everett, a former owner of five of these clinics?

Do you identify with any of them? If so, why? If not, why? Do these testimonies make you feel angry and hated or loved and hopeful for a happier life? Thanks for sharing your views on this! PLEASE no bigoted name calling and false accusations as that is not helpful in learning or in bridging any gaps of miscommunications.

Good day/eve all. My sister and I are having a wee debate as to the character of Det Robert Goren's religious background. I say that he is RC because of his references to his being a 'lapsed alter boy'; my sister says Jewish because of an episode involving a rabbi. So, what is he, please? :)
