Good day/eve all. My sister and I are having a wee debate as to the character of Det Robert Goren's religious background. I say that he is RC because of his references to his being a 'lapsed alter boy'; my sister says Jewish because of an episode involving a rabbi. So, what is he, please? :)

He is most likely not Jewish because the show would have highlighted that fact in an episode if he were. Detective Munch from Law and Order: SVU always mentions that he is Jewish. So I'm sure if Goren were Jewish, we would have known by now.

The show doesn't really go into detail on that, but according to Wikipedia he once said that this willingness to test authority stems from his days as a "lapsed altar boy." So I'm guessing Catholic.

He has made several references on the show about being raised Catholic.
