I've heard that when we die, we have to give an account of our lives to God. What exactly does that entail? Is that like Judge and jury type scenario? Doesn't sound good at all. I need some clarification please. Thank you.

Well basically you can face God in two ways. One on your own, and proclaim your own goodness. Or the second with Jesus, who was perfect. If you go on your own you have no chance, and God will judge you on all your sins. However if you have Christ, then you will be judged on the good you did, and get rewarded for what you do.

It's really hard to say. The (attempted) explanation I've heard that makes the most sense to me goes back to John 14:2. There are different places/ranks for us based on how much "Gold" we earned here on earth (or what is left after the "wood hay and stubble" is burned off). So we are accountable when we get there and see what we earned in relation to what we could/should have earned. I personally don't think it will be what I thought years ago (the whole universe watches every second of your life, you have to explain to God the many times you sinned, etc.), but really we don't know.

When we die we simply are buried. Back to the dust from which we came. Now, if you know and are living in the truth and you are dead you will be raised at the first ressurection. You will be in the Lords rest. This represents the seventh day. A thousand years on earth with spirit and flesh. Those that were not doing what God said to do they either were stilled dead and in the ground or still living and would be seperated from Gods children at the second resurrection. Those who were in the first ressurection will be given Judgment and will not be Judged because they new and did what God told them to do. This is a little complicated, but I will try to address it. By the way this is a very good question. First of all when we die we are dead, and are conscious of nothing.

Ecclesiastes 9:5:"For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."

Then look what the Bible says about death and sin...

Romans 6:23: " For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord. "

Our death wipes the slate clean, even though we may not have known God in our life before. However, the Bible teaches the resurrection of not only those who knew and were obedient to God, or righteous (right with God) but also of those who were unrighteous ( or not having accurate knowledge of God)

Acts 24:15: "and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."

John 5:28 and 29: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

However, notice back in Romans that we found out that the wages sin pays is death, and once dead, those sins have been wiped out, they are remembered no more. So then in the resurrection and afterwards those who did not know or have accurate knowledge of God will have a chance to learn about him, then they will have to make the choice of whether to accept God, or experience the second death from which there is no return. There is so much more of this teaching to learn, and only serious study will help you gain accurate knowledge. It is very important now to learn what the Bible really teaches so that you can make the choice of whether to serve God or not. The Bible says at
John 4:23: " Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him."

Also John 17 :3 says: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."

I think an account would entail your whole life in a lump. From beginning to the end.Once you are at the age of accountability, then to the end.Jesus deals wih the heart, so that is what He will be knowing about.Did you do what was right during your life?I believe that will be the main question to each and everyone of us...well that's my view on it.

no one knows for sure.
but then when you die, you walk to the gate of heaven, and an angel asked why he should let you in.. you should be able to give him the answer that you're a believer in Christ (the only way to heaven).

well, if you are "qualified" to get into heaven because you believe in Jesus, you should know that ALL your sins are paid for by the death of jesus. even if there's a judge and jury scenario after that, you are sin-free.

i guess, whether you get into heaven or not depends on how you answer at the gate.

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

No jury, just judgment. We have to give an account for what we have done for God.If a person has not accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior, our sins that we confess here on earth will not be forgiven.Hence the statement, through Jesus Christ is the only way into heaven.

The idea is that we will stand before God and account.

None of us know exactly how. Like will he question certain parts of our lives, ask us why? Maybe he will replay it for us on a big screen. All we know is God will be judge and jury, to HIM alone we will recount.

If you are a Christian what will matter is what you've done with your life as a Christian. Your sins are covered by the blood of Christ who's offering you've accepted when you became a Christian. In my life there is evidence that I am His and that I've sought to convey what I know and understand to others. There are links which I'll place here to demonstrate.
