Sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests has cost the U.S. church at least $1.5 billion since 1950.
--Yahoo News Article, today.

Are other religious organizations more successful at keeping this out of the papers? This seems like a problem of epidemic proportions, but it is unrealistic (to me) that the behavior of other clerics is not similar. Is there something different about the Roman Catholics that can explain this?

I just saw some evolutionists say that man and apes evolved from the same common ancestor so I was just wondering who/what you all believed the common ancestor evolved from?

Iam a single mother in college and Iam on welfare. I had to quit my job when I started school, its hard to make ends meet but Iam an honor student and I get to spend time with my baby. I get our clothes from goodwill and I would love to get her a toy and a new outfit. I know she's too young to remember this but if your a parent you'll know how bad it hurts not to be able to buy a gift on christmas.

Hold up hold on don't be scared
You'll never change what's been and gone

May your smile. Shine on. Don't be scared
Your destiny may keep you warm.

Cos all of the stars are fading away
Just try not to worry you'll see them some day
Take what you need and be on your way
And stop crying your heart out

Get up. Come on why you scared
You'll never change what been and gone

I converted to Catholicism in 2000 and through the RCIA process I learned that there are literally thousands of misinterpretations of Catholic beliefs. I was shocked by this. Just curious as to what others think about these false accusations against the Church (e.g. worshipping idols, praying to saints, etc.)

After reading all your comments on my last post, you leave me no option.

I'm leaving Christianity, and becoming a Muslim

If Jesus did ever love me, he wouldn't have made you all cynics..maybe the Muslims will help me, clearly they have more faith!

The independent website "Adherents.com" has this chart (abbreviated and columns switched):
http://adherents.com/adh_rb.html#International

Religious BodyNumber of Adherents
...
. 16,811,519 Seventh-day Adventists
. 15,597,746 Jehovah's Witnesses
. 12,275,822 ...Latter-day Saints

The webpage had a footnote on Jehovah's Witnesses:
[quote]"** Jehovah's Witnesses: This 15+ million figure is the approximate number of adherents -- intended to reflect all those who consider Jehovah's Witnesses their preferred faith, regardless of current activity status. Figure is based on reported once-a-year memorial attendance (adjusted). Actual number of publishers was 6 million worldwide in 1999. Worldwide, the number of practicing Jehovah's Witnesses may actually be higher than the number of practicing Anglicans."[unquote]

At one point do we start calling Jehovah's Witnesses a mainstream religion?

I checked two websites, and apparently there are now more associated with Jehovah's Witnesses than with the Southern Baptist Convention!
16,383,333 Jehovah's Witnesses
16,270,315 Southern Baptist Convention

http://jw-media.org/people/statistics.htm
http://www.lifeway.com/common/clickthru/0,1603,Art=162352,00.html?X=/article/?id=162352

Are there any published figures to compare these two religions?
This seems astounding.

My grandmother passed away today, and I am speaking at her funeral. Does anybody have any poems that talk about dying? I would prefer if they were Christian in nature, because she was Christian.
