Yes, the Bible contains everything you need to know about life. You can also read math and science, and I think you will find that math and science only corroborate the Bible and support the idea that there is an Intelligent Designer. Take a look at the highest mathematics studied by man, and you begin to ask yourself, "Who made all this stuff up, anyway?" There seem to be a lot of rules to math, physics and chemistry that simply could not be arranged all by themselves. They are obviously the product of a highly sophisticated mind, more so than we could ever imagine.
Science DOES agree with the Bible, but you must be cautious not to confuse someone's interpretation of the facts with science. Some people think evolution is science, but it is highly unprovable and unscientific, and it actually defies already established scientific findings. People just cling to it because they can't stand the alternative.
God assures us that we can trust the Truths of the Bible 100% - after all, He's the One who created the Universe, I think He knows how He did it.

NO! NO! NO!
The bible tells a story, It gives guidelines. Only living life will teach you what you need to know. God gave everyone free will .
How old are you? reading the bible will help you understand the good and bad in people, but you need more than that, in this day and age. learn all you can science, math, history, geography, everything. Even if you can't use them to GET BY IN LIFE. When you are in a social situation very rarely is the conversation topic the bible. Wouldn't you like to participate too? A little knowledge about many things is better than a lot of knowledge about 1 thing.
expand your mind, in doing so you will be a better person.

The Bible does prescribe some things regarding relationships with others but the Bible is no longer sufficient and God never intended that we remain ignorant. For example, the Bible never foretold that the Intel 8088 or 8086 would be superseded by the new Pentium and more advanced chips in such a short period of time. Neither did it instruct hardware developers how to accomplish this. Neither does the Bible give instructions on how to use an iPod as a music and video playback device.
Can you be happy without these things. Maybe.
One might argue that God created a world in which all these miracles could happen, that God created a human brain that enabled the utilization of a scientific epistemology to engineer a multitude of products that resulted from scientific discovery.
One could also argue that there is no God.
We do no one thing more certainly than any other: humans like to argue. We cannot not live without doing that.

Objectively, the bible has a few good lines of poetry. Outside of that, there is very little to recommend it. One thing it is not, is a good source of moral instruction. This is the reason, for example, that one finds Christians on this forum constantly reminding people that the barbarous dictates of those primitive tribesmen is the "old covenant." They have to do this because the actual text (Deut. Gen., Kings, etc.) seems to have been a collaboration between Stephen King and the Marquis De Sade.

So even if there are moral "gems" in it, you would have to have a road-map and a guide to get around the horror & cruelty.

And by the way, consider that countless millions have lived productive and moral lives without reading a page of the bible.

Not everything. It won't tell you how to drive a car or make macaroni and cheese, etc. Spiritually -- it's all about how you interpret the words. There's a lot of good advice in the Bible, but there are a lot of contradictions, especially between the old testament and the new testament. Furthermore, through translation a lot of the Bible has been misinterpreted. Check into Bart Ehrman's writings (i.e. "Misquoting Jesus") for more information on this topic. In the end, you choose to believe in what most fulfills your soul/heart/mind -- be it the Bible or your Biology textbook or a combination of everything.

The Bible is filled with instruction on life, from raising your kids, to handling your finances, to handle anger, stress, difficult people, well, everything.

But, even those who were inspired by God to write the books of the Bible obtained an education with sources outside the Bible. The disciple Luke, who wrote the Gospel of Luke was a medical doctor. He was the group's physician.

Moses was educated tremendously in Pharoh's palace, and Daniel was taught by the Babylonians. Many, many more.

So, if you use the resources available to get a good education and become a professional, and you use the sources of the Bible, I'd say you are a very well-rounded person, and you would be a great benefit to further the Kingdom of God.

I had knee surgery, and the doctor who performed the surgery came into my room and gave me a book on Scripture, and requested that we pray before my surgery, right there in the room when I was strapped with needles and prep stuff. I was far away from God at that time, but now that I am close to God, I reflect back on that time, and am in awe that this tremendously educated man used his practice to witness to others.

If you lived two thousand years ago, the Bible would have current, useful information. You would know how to sacrifice goats and other useful information for that age.
If you want to live in this world today you should learn things related to this life, as it is today.
If you only read the Bible you will be only at kindergaten level.
It is very simple and easy to understand those little stories.
That's why Bible camps are so full of people who don't want to bother with studies

The bible says in Proverbs that the uneducated are to get smarter. The bible can give all wisdom.
Those other books do help, They contain the knowledge of man, but the bible contains wisdom of God.

I believe the bible has a lot of what we need to know concerning religion - but I also believe in the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, Pearl of Great Price...those are all religious truths that go hand in hand with the bible.
I also believe, and we are encouraged as LDS members, to learn everything we can in this life. I just gave a lesson last Sunday on the importance of different kinds of knowlegde. Our Heavenly Father wants us to learn everything we can, school and religious wise...Afterall, the only things we take from this life on to the next are our spirits, our knowledge and wisdom, our attitude, our experiences and memories...

The Bible doesnt have everything you need to know about life but everything needed for Spiritual life, which if just as important and walks hand in hand with physical life. There is a lot to learn about the physical world in the Bible, but not everything. Just like the physical world can teach you about the Spiritual, but not everything. Its part of a whole "meal" to feed the body which is you :)
