I feel that the Buddha has shown me the way. You should read into Buddhism when you get a chance. It's some real trippy shitt. I have even let go the fear of a punishing God.

This is a question to atheists and theists.
Atheists first:
Have you ever convinced someone to abandon their religion? How? What did you say/do?

Theists:
Have you ever successfully converted an atheist to your religion? How? What did you say/do?

For both:
What is the main argument that defends your views?

If you have not been successful:
Why bother arguing? Doesn't it seem pointless?

Please give me some SENSIBLE/LOGICAL reasons that I should believe that there is an All powerful being that created everything. Please don't include "Because you'll go to hell if you don't believe", Or "believe through faith",etc.

off to bed soon, praying for others here has been a great help to me and hopefully you! Let me know of any testimony.

I pray to G-d the father in the name of Jesus. If that sounds good, tell me the request.

If that sounds not so good to you, please have some respect for the holiness of prayer, just type good night and grab 2 points!

Bless you all
David

If there are two people to be saved, and either one or both can be, who would you think *should* be saved and go to heaven/salvation (if you believe in this). Joe who goes to church, believes in Jesus, and commits totally to his Christian faith-BUT doesn't do anything good unless its under the goad of his religion alone. Or John, who has no faith in God/Jesus or any other religion, and does many many good deeds and services purely because he wants to. John enjoys helping others and has no other motive. It all comes from his heart. He's not goaded by "faith" scripture or belief in Jesus etc. If you were God, who would you choose first? and would you condemn the other? Would you allow someone's faith alone to be the main criteria rather than their true heart and character as a whole person? I.e say Joe was a believer but that was all there was in his heart and John is not but his heart was full of love for others and the world. I'm curious to see what Christians in particular feel.

Instead of in systematic books written, authorized, and canonized specifically to define Christian doctrine? Why didn't God deliver these himself, as he did the Law to Moses? Maybe this explains why the Old Testament Law has more clarity than the New Testament doctrines. Why did God leave the writing of systematic theologies to modern, uninspired writers, who cannot agree with one another?

well, what about your loved ones, don't you think about them? Don't you wonder if they will be joining you or not, and if they don't aren't you sad because they didn't make it to heaven? How could you be at peace and be happy if your loved ones aren't with you?
