In my search for truth I have learned many things, however, the one thing that stands out the most is that it will set you free! I don't feel free today yall. I feel like I have just learned to accept that the truth has been so hidden, twisted and changed that it is simply easier to adjust to living a lie. Peace*

You people don't deserve what the Lord is setting forth. You reject everything that he tells us.

Isa 29:16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

What does this mean? I think I saw it on a sign in front of a church the other day and for the life of me I can't wrap my mind around this metaphor. Is it even a mataphor? Maybe it was just a sign in front of a fence repair shop. I saw it on a road trip and I couldn't see what it was in front of. If you understant what this means please explain it to me. Thanks.

Really in the real world - not Y!A where there is a preponderance of fundamentalists. Any faith - do they really go by the tenents or do they fudge a bit? For example I don't think I have met a single Christian who has not had pre-maritial or extra-marital sex and I live in a very conservative Christian area. Dietary restriction? Dress?

if what you were told to do was not done would not they punish you, or chastise you and make you do what they told you to do.

Same thing the the Father in heavan is doing. We are going to be in some big trouble when he gets back.

Two priests were getting ready to enter the communal showers at the cathedral, when they noticed that the stalls were all empty of soap. One of the priests stated that he had some extra bars of soap in his room, and since it was so close by, he’d go back and fetch two bars. Indeed, since his room was so close, he didn’t bother getting dressed, but darted down the hallway nude.

As he was coming back to the showers, three nuns rounded the corner, blocking his path to the showers. The priest backed up against the wall and froze, still clutching the bars of soap. The three nuns stopped in front of him.

“These new statues that the church is buying are extremely life like,” one nun noted as she reached down and tugged on his penis. Startled, he dropped a bar of soap.

“Look,“ exclaimed another nun,” it dispenses soap!” She also tugged on his penis, and he dropped the second bar of soap.

The third nun tugged on his penis, but there was no more soap to drop.

I can't seem to find anyone who rejects God and the Bible that is willing to calmly and clearly explain why they believe what they believe without name calling or sarcasm. None who have not misunderstood something about God or the Bible.

I feel like something is missing. I don't like going to church (I've moved around a lot and been to many churches and haven't really liked any of them). I rarely get anything out of reading the Bible. When I did what I wanted I was quite happy and content, but then people started saying it was wrong and unglorifying to God. and so I stopped, because I do believe that we should be glorifying to God.
I just feel like something is missing from it all. I currently go to my parents' church (a Calvary Chapel). If there's any christians on here, let me know what you think..

Todays muslims remind me so much of all the fire and brimstone preachers that used to be the norm many years ago.

Would you think that in another 200 year time muslims will catch up with how the modern world is today?

There has to be some other place to discuss your religion . Why don't you start your own forum so that others like you can have your discussions in a place where the topic has less negitive feed back ? It seems to me that you are looking to make a point and use freedom of speach to pass on the " word " . We get it already . Enough is enough already . Go start a blog somewhere or do something more productive with your time . It's tiring , constantly reading rediculous religious questions from people who are supposed to have all the answers from their faith . Go read the bible or whatever scripture you prefer and stop waisting the time and effort of asking the general puplic questions that have been answered already ...

I like to tell them I am in their religion too and talk their talk. Eventually I start telling them beliefs they have never heard before. When they ask about it, I act surprised and tell them they are not at that level yet and ignore everything I just told them.

Various comments I've had include 'you're confused,' 'you obviously don't understand the Bible,' 'you just don't know the truth' and 'it's like that because God said so (cue some ridiculously long Biblical quote)... DUH (or equivalent demeaning sound)'

I think that this is one of the biggest barriers between atheists and theists, as theists tend to assume they are more enlightened or intelligent than atheists (and vice versa.) Can't we just say that theists FEEL differently to atheists, rather than it being about knowledge and truth etc?

I have to compare the conditions in the Rome Empire that allowed Christianty to grow while the Empire itself declined. Between the yrs. A.D. 90 and A.D. 400. And consider why religions tend to grow in times of conflict or trial.
Does n-e-1 know where i can get that info?!!

In some of the answers found here, Christians "attack" Islam because they do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah. But neither does Judaism.

Is this just because of the present terrorism associated with Islamic fanatics? There was a time when Christians and Muslims coexisted peacefully.

Is this just a current phenomenon and can we coexist with Islam? We seem to be okay with Judaism. Can we all just get along?

"Imagine all the people, living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will live as one."
I think that John Lennon is telling us here that religion is only serving to seperate us and keep us apart, and is the primary cause of hatred and evil in the world. It's not the love of money that is at the root of all evil, but rather religions themselves are at the root of all the evil in the world. If you think about it, you will see that I am right. Just imagine what a different world this would be without religious wars and conflict. How many people have been killed, persecuted, and entire races wiped out because of religion. Hitler was religious, and he truly believed that killing the Jews was the best thing for society. Wake up people. It's time to face the truth. Everything that you have been taught by whatever religion you belong to has been a lie. It's time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Modern calendars are based on the (erroneous but commonly believed) year of Jesus birth. This is 2006; presumptively Jesus 2006th birthday is this year. With each usage, we subtly indicate that we are living in a Christian time.

While the terms BC and AD are on their way out and replaced with BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era), it nonetheless remains that the calendar is centered on Jesus birth.

SO.... in a multicultural / multifaith world, what year should we choose as year 1? What event is so definitive across human culture that it deserves to be cited forever more as the beginning of our current era?

Rom 10:17 So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Better take it for what it is worth. The bible says that in due time you won't be able to find out what God told you to do and than thats when the trouble sets in.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
