Remember that Christ fortold about false prophets, I believe the Book of Mormon is false prophecy, I believe that a dedicated Christian church, one that follows scripture, believes in baptism (full submerssion)and follows Christs teachings is the best answer. I know many Catholics that were not finding the relationship with God that was intended by him, and they started going to a Christian Church and now have that relationship. I have confronted Jehovas witnesses and I believe that they are brain washed, and are following cult like practices. As far as holiday's go-- be with your family and share God, forget the malls and the decor, on Christmas remember that God loves us enough to give us a savior, and on easter remember that Jesus loves us so much that he gave his life.

It would be very profitable for you to study the bible (not the JW or Catholic bible)but an evangelical bible, for yourself.

Catholicism and Jehovah Witness religions deviate from the truth of scripture (although they will say to you that their version of religion is the "right" one).

Stick with the bible. As far as holidays go - well the JW's do have a point there, but that doesn't mean that the rest of their doctrine lines up with scripture. They deny the trinity and the deity of Christ and will argue with your till your head hurts.

The way of salvation (eternal life with God in heaven) is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Keep in mind that the puritan pilgrims did not celebrate Christmas either. The main point isn't the holidays, the main thing that you need to know is the truth of the gospel. Jesus died to save us from the punishment of sin.

Here are a couple of web site that will help you.

Get bible classes from a better sources. I am not catholic (well, no longer infeodated to the church), but I have studied the matter enough to know that a) Protestants use an incomplete version of the bible, b) witnesses have really restrictive and silly interpretation of the texts and c) they also use a version of the text that suits their slant, but happens to be quite faulty. Also, they have certain articles of faith that put them beyond the pale and outside what most people regard as proper christianity, and are extremely strict and close minded regarding their faith and what is proper conduct.

ergo, if you want to learn about being a christian, and a good person, and do what is right, they are not the best place to look. I'd advise getting advice from liberal catholics, or maybe better, lutherans. Avoid calvinists and all manners of evangelicals.

Well Sweetie, hang on here.
You are leaving one cult going right into another one, that is far worse. As bad as hate to admit it, you will be better off staying in the Catholic church. There are many, many Catholics that are Christian. Many are what we call 'born again'. That is almost an ugly word in Catholicism, but it means that one is a true Christian. If you are in the USA you may want to try a Calvary Chapel. That is about the safest church you can be in. You may want to start a "holy" club within your church like the Methodist did. Those who want to learn about God can come and have a Bible Study. If you need some printed material for your study, go to www.cbd.com, or www.scripturetruth.com. Those are safe places to order from. But-please hear me!!!!!Stay away from Jehovah's Witness and any of their material. All cults, everyone of them "seem" like the truth at first.
Before you join up with any church or group, check them out through Apologetics index, or Watchman fellowship, or cult watch. Just make sure they are not a cult.

Why would you take a Bible study from a group that has no authority to interpret the Bible, and teaches doctrinal errors that are incompatible with Christianity? JW's are dangerous cult - dangerous to the faith of any true Christians who get involved with them. If you are learning JW doctrine, you are NOT learning about God. You are learning an ungodly fiction. Your family apparently recognize this fact. Why not take a Bible study with the Church God gave the Bible to in the first place, the Church which compiled the Bible, and which alone has the authority to interpret it accurately, the Holy Catholic Church.

Your family might be less troubled if you presented your objections to these holidays as a result of your personal comparison of clear bible teachings with the details of each so-called "holy day".

There are many sincere non-Witness Christian individuals who also recognize and reject the false worship and pagan tradition behind too many so-called "holidays". You might have learned these details anywhere, but the fact that you learned them as a result of your study with Jehovah's Witnesses should not matter to anyone interested in the TRUTH. Once a person knows the truth, how must he react to God's commands?

(Acts 5:29) We must obey God as ruler rather than men.

(1 Samuel 15:22) Look! To obey [Jehovah] is better than a sacrifice, to pay attention than the fat of rams

(Daniel 3:18) But if not, let it become known to you, O king, that your gods are not the ones we are serving, and the image of gold that you have set up we will not worship.

(John 14:15) If you love me, you will observe my commandments

(Acts 4:19) Peter and John said to them: “Whether it is righteous in the sight of God to listen to you [human authorities] rather than to God, judge for yourselves.

Why do you want to leave the Catholic church? Did you not learn about God in the Catholic church? Maybe you should study the Catholic faith more in depth as well as studying Jehovas Witness. Then you can decide which one is right for you. I myself do not agree with Jehovahs Witness, but I can't decide for you.

God bless,
Stanbo

I say take the religious path that is right FOR YOU. Not what's right for your family. The beauty of a free nation is that we can all make our own choices.

But I do say it wouldn't be a bad idea to do more religious studies from an unbias source. University studies perhaps. Learn about religion from an unbias, intellectual point of view. Then make your choices.

Once you learn the truth, you need to continue to live by it.

if you compromise, how will your family ever learn the truth?

depending on your age, you may still be under their headship.

When you take your stand you must be very clear that you are not rejecting them, but the false forms of worship. (seasoned with salt)

Your stand will eventually earn the respect of your family.

(been there with my family)

Listen to your family. They're very convincing, but keep an open mind AND GET A SECOND OPINION! (The real Bible, not The New World Bible)
