But does your father punish you for *his* mistakes?
Consider the Garden of Eden. God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit, yet he put the tree right in front of them, knowing full well that they will fail.
When your father places his drink on a precarious surface near your play area and you knock his drink over because you didn't even know it was there, does he beat you for being so careless? In real life, such a father would be charged with child abuse.
Yet, God does something similar, and people revere him. Abused wives revere their abusive husbands, but it's only because they don't know of anything better. Will you realize that your "father" is abusive? What will you do about it?

What an odd view of life.
I find doing what is right increases my happiness in life. I do not need the threat of a father figure coming down out of the sky to spanking me if I am naughty.

Was raised in a very traditional Catholic home. So, it was expected to be done, anything that we were asked to do. If not, there were consequences. I did not like this at the time, but as an adult, I look back, and glad it took place.

God is a God of LOve. He allows us freewill. He does not demand us to follow him, he offers himself freely to us. If we choose the path to hell, God will be sad, but he will let us go there if we choose. God is not a dcitator, he does not demand we follow him. God doesn't condemn us, we do that to ourselves. God convicts us, that is he speaks to us and tries to get us to do what is good and right. The only trouble anyone will be in when God comes, is the trouble they have caused themselves. God does not spank us, lecture us, etc.He will simply judge our hearts & souls and the choices we make will determine the outcome. If we have strayed from God he will simply say, "Depart from me...I know you not". Then Satan wiull bind those souls to eternal hell and damnation....not by Satans authority because he has none...but by the persons freewill choice to follow Satan.

Mmm hmm. So I suppose you can say that you would send your child, whom you (hopefully) love even more than yourself, to an eternity of torture.
If you answer that, "Yes," you have no business having a child.

Oh please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea, like my Mom would sentence me to an eternity in hell because I got divorced, used birth control, had sex without marriage, had an abortion, voted for a Democrat.
If you had any common sense at all, you would know that God would never do that either.

the strange thing is that we all already know the severity of the punishment and how simple it is to avoid it and still some choose not to...
